More likely it means the opposite. Whale will spoof a large wall to bid the price up, pull the wall and dump into the bid strength

Yes, this an issue.

The irony is you can almost achieve a similar effect yourself by going on the smaller exchanges and trading more exotic pairs.

I’ve been trading a small amount of BTCP/LTC on TradeSatoshi, and you can shift the market by placing a higher bid that doesn’t quite sit high enough to get filled immediately, others then jump in a higher price to try and get filled first. I could then in theory remove my bid and sell instead.

I think a lot is to do with what proportion of the liquidity you control. On an exchange where current bids may be worth a total of around 1BTC, it is easy to shift things with a small amount of money, and I guess a whale can do this on bigger exchanges.
