Can't remove funds from Toast Wallet

I have just placed XRP coins in the toast App and have now tried to move them to Shapeshift, however shapeshift can't connect to toast to complete the transaction. Has anyone else experienced issues removing funds from Toast. All you do is copy the code from the clipboard to use in Shapeshift?

I have read a few other comments where people have been having the same issue. My advise is to stay well away from toast wallet. You can easily send coins to the wallet, but not get them back out it seems.

I'm not sure you can conclude that yet....   these issues might just be folk unaware of the wallet fee.   Let's wait and see what they say about that question.

So far every one of these users has been attempting to send to an invalid Ripple address then blaming it on the wallet software.

For perfect clarity: a Ripple address is a 33-34 character alphanumeric code starting with a lower case r. It does not contain : - & . or ?

If the address you are trying to send to does not match that description the send will fail.

Some exchanges will produce an address in this format:

ripple:<address here>&dt=<destination tag here>

Extract the address and enter it manually.

Extract the destination tag and enter it manually.

If you have any further problems read our FAQ: https://toastwallet.com/faq

I think you are being unfairly criticised for errors that are done by the user.   Your software is not at fault but it is being criticised.

Having said that...  I would think to improve reliabilty of transactions and user experience that all wallet software should ( and I'm not sure if any do yet...) run a test parse of the address to ensure it is at least overtly valid.

Even better if the software could do a explore of the destination address and in a read only field on the page display its current balance and last transaction.

The test parse wouldn't detect a user failing to declare a destination tag but the returned balance and last transaction might reveal that it's the exchange wallet they are sending to not the individuals.

Just a suggestion....

Thank you. We are planning to add more validation in the next version. We hesitate to add strict parsing and validation because Ripple might add new address formats in the future which we can't predict in the present... and if you have a cold storage device you turn on in 10 years you'll want to be able to send to any address.

We will probably add a prompt saying "this doesn't look like a regular Ripple address, are you sure you want to attempt to send?" to the next version.

What do you think about the preview idea?   I like the thought that I expect to see 1356 XRP there so I know it's the right address before I hit send....

It's an interesting idea however we don't want to clutter the payment page and we're not aware of any other wallet that does this?

Our next version will focus on trying to make users less confused. I feel like features like this will confuse them further.

The good news is Toast Wallet is open source. You could quite easily fork it and add these modifications to your fork.
