Malloy
***Still brainstorming on this one. I don't want it to be too personal, on the other hand, it's good to know who we're talking too, your trading background, technical skills, field of expertise...let me know what you think*** I'll start with myself and we can adjust the questions to create the template. Geopolitics (the countries/regions you know/follow/understand ) - Europe, North America, Central America, Caribbean. Trading background (do you or did work in the field, studied, started in crypto, etc.) - 20+ years on the stocks exchange as a freelancer or part of a grey pool - in crypto since 2013 Trading style (technical, scalping, day trade, swing trade, position, etc.) - mostly day or swing trade, some position - momentum, I know charts and TA, but I rely more on informations and emotions Exchanges and Wallets (used, could help others with) - Kraken, Bitstamp, Poloniex, GateHub, Bitfinex, Bittrex - Rippex desktop wallet, myetherwallet Technical knowledge (cryptography, programming, protocoles, mining, etc.) - not too strong in cryptography or programming language, i.e., can't really tell if it's really a good new technology - I tried to mine but not equip and not savvy enough to make it work Other info (what could be useful to our club) - good knowledge of the web, search engines, social medias Fenix, rippleric, Sapitoka and 1 other
rippleric
Eric here, Some of you have probably heard of or about me, I'm from the U.S., I've been around the states and world a little bit and I still am to this day, I'm former military (Marine veteran), and currently working as a logistics / IT analyst in automated information systems in Japan for the government. Still working on and almost finished with my bachelors degree in Network Security. Area- I'm following mainly U.S. and Japan, but with ripple I look at their developments globally Trading - I started trading stocks on my laptop back in 2011 - 2012 with really no experience, but didn't really like it, so stumbled upon bitcoin and ripple and got hooked on that movement. Trading Style - Mostly buy and hold the good ones, I'll make some trades if I think it's a good play or if TA shows a trend... But I like to watch the overall market now, and get a feel for what's hot and what's not.. Intend to try some of the pump / hold groups. I run some bots on cryptotrader.org, so i let them do the day trading for me. Exchanges / Wallets - Gatehub, Kraken, poloniex, bittrex, iotaexchange, coinbase / jatchilli minimalist client, intend to get some good hardware wallets or mobile wallets with multi-sig, and or lock some secret keys in some security boxes that is if i don't sell it all beforehand... Programming / Technical - I'm fairly knowledgeable with networks, but not a great programmer, as in I've taken classes but never got into writing actual code for anything. Familiar with cryptography to a point, not enough to write algorithms ha I mine on genesis-mining.com, but they take a very large percentage of profit. I could probably do it myself, but I don't have the time or space to run a mining rig, If i did it would be solar. Other- I follow trends (google alerts) for some of the top crypto, search trends, I run the twitter account @RippleFeed if you haven't already guessed Mercury, Sapitoka, Trisky and 2 others
Mercury
Mercury, I am not hiding too hard and I am sure it is relatively easy to find me in RL. Areas- I am based in Ottawa, Canada and follow national trends here. I have on occasions attended various Senate, Parliamentary working groups on crypto and technology. I have also been in contact with various charities, interest groups and a couple research efforts based in the nation's capital. By necessity I know some of the US regulatory scene. When did I start- Started in crypto in 2013. Trading style- I am a horrible trader, I have joked it is best to do the opposite of what I do. Just holding for now. Exchanges and Wallets (used, could help others with) - Kraken, Bitstamp, Poloniex, GateHub, Bluezelle, The Rock and a couple others. I tend to sign up for new exchanges when they come online, even if I have no real intention of using them. Ditto for wallets. Technical knowledge (cryptography, programming, protocols, mining, etc.)- basic entry level stuff, enough to get others started and to stay mostly out of trouble. This is roughly across the board. I can follow most conversational technology speak but can get lost in the weeds when it comes to deep dives. Other info (what could be useful to our club) - got interested via another tech application (remote community connectivity project) and have investigated use cases besides the ones being pushed right now. Exposure to government and charity groups has lead to some exposure to what regulators and potential users are looking for, understand (or don't) and what can help. I am intimately familiar with US federal and state regulation (taxation and labor law specifically). -I've also been involved with Ripple since 2013, attended many events, and I'm active in the crypto community on both coasts. Truthfully, I expect to learn more than I can give back here, but I hope to provide value. You could start by looking at the ticker topics and vote for short/mid/long term. There's no good or bad answer, we're just trying to create a sentiment table...sentiment is not scientific but can really help give us the "feel" about a certain coin if enough members participate. Trisky
Arno here, Geopolitics (the countries/regions you know/follow/understand ) - Europe Trading background (do you or did work in the field, studied, started in crypto, etc.) - none (got distracted and missed out buying bitcoin in it's early years). - in crypto since may after a (now wealthy) friend showed me the way. Trading style (technical, scalping, day trade, swing trade, position, etc.) - mostly accumulating, defensive trading because of a small stack but trying to learn asap and use some of my stack with a little addition to start trading a little more. Just for fun as I understand you have to be a little lucky as well to get some gains imo. Exchanges and Wallets (used, could help others with) - Kraken, GateHub, Bittrex, bluetrade, EtherDelta - Rippex desktop wallet, Mist, Sia, Gulden, Stratis, NEM, Lykke (mobile), NXT, DGB, Technical knowledge (cryptography, programming, protocoles, mining, etc.) - learning css, java php at a slow pace. maybe interesting to work on connecting sites with crypto payments options in the near future, API and so on. - electricity where I live is relatively expensive, mining is out Other info (what could be useful to our club) - blockchain is really huge. almost every firm, organisation or (fintech) person in the world is busy with this thing. I am trying to absorb all information as much as I can and would appreciate any help I can get and will share what I think could be interesting. I am member of some communities. But most of all, trying to enjoy the ride in this nice place. rippleric, Dennis and Malloy 2
