CNC
Hi Everyone great forum and extremely helpful for a newbie. Have a quick question that I can't seem to find an answer for yet. I made a deposit using a credit card on Bitstamp. My account balance reflects the deposit but when I go to purchase it basically says I have 0.00 dollars for buys. Do I need to do something else? No word from Bitstam support yet - thanks!
Guest
I don't know about Bitstamp but some exchanges have a funding wallet and a trading wallet. Maybe you need to transfer funds into the trading wallet? Another thing that occurs is did you transfer in dollars? Maybe in the trading area you have something other than 'desired coin'/usd selected. Eg BTC/USD or XRP/EUR I'm not familiar with Bitstamp so don't know what options are there.... but if you try and buy XRP with dollars it might not be available.... so check exactly what you are trying to buy and what with. yezu
... and check your bitcoin account - that option can be used for buying bitcoin (or xrp) directly without putting anything on your fiat account first... lowlarkin
What currency did you deposit? Eur or $? Be sure to click the proper tab for purchasing xrp. I had no problems with bitstamp so far.
CNC
Thanks everyone. I did end up seeing my value as BTC and then was able to use this BTC to purchase XRP. I believe then I am good to go??

CNC
Yes, I did, thanks.....but I realized it going in so OK with that. Last newbie question - so, I used USD via credit cards to make deposit. That is recognized as a % value of BTC. I then used BTC to purchase XRP which Bitstamp now recognizes and shows in my holdings/purchases. So I hold XRP now, woo hoo. While I am HODL person, if I wanted to sell @ a profit down the road (fingers crossed) how then does that come back to the Bitstamp user? As BTC or USD or what? Thanks! You can sell for USD, EUR, BTC and soon ETH. And then withdraw them.
