Distribution has been very slow the first three weeks of August. Weekly distribution updates are new, so I'm not sure if historical distribution was weighted towards the last week of the month. Next Monday we'll know how the month ends. MTD only ~4.9M XRP have been distributed. Calm before the storm?

TOTAL XRP HELD BY RIPPLE64,434,490,888

TOTAL XRP HELD BY OTHERS35,562,730,335*

As of August 21st, 2016
*Total includes business development agreements that are still pending.

This site tells you exactly how much they distributed as of the last update: https://bithomp.com/

Must be  a deal from some big organisation. Its not a positive news.....

There are many potential reasons for this occurance. I wouldn't label this good or bad news since we have no idea what's happening. Maybe their lock up contract  allows ripple to buy back some of Jed's XRP if they wish to do so, who knows what's going on.

Not clear what's going on but 245mil is about their average monthly distribution for the past year or more. I doubt it's a Jed buyback.

I don't think that either, wouldn't make sense. I meant to say in essence that we don't know if this is good or bad news

Does not matter if good or bad news. Price will go down anyway ;-)

But dont u think that price should have gone  up with decreased supply...?

It would be nice if a few Held by categories were added:

Held by Ripple:
Held by Current & former Ripple employees:
Held by Institutional partners:
Held by Charity trusts:
Held by Exchange cold storage:
Held by Exchange order books:
Held by Everyone Else:

Then you could get a better idea of how many XRP are actually available on the open market.

There are too many variables involved to estimate what the immediate effects of decreased supply are, especially as distribution methods/volumes aren't known well in advance like with bitcoin for instance.

Long term effects of decreased supply should be a bit easier to predict.
