Where is the problem?

I originally said no exchange names but it has become obvious we're talking about GateHub. I've updated this post, not to sling mud but for others who may need help or understanding in the future. I have contacted support but it was an automated response. So I am asking for input and help in determining what happened. I don't expect any fixes, but I'm wondering how what has happened benefits either the user or Gatehub?

I used XRP to buy 2 orders of ETC and then withdrew the ETC and sent them to another wallet. The ripple transaction completed and ETC was issued but I'm not seeing anything on the Ethereum Classic blockchain.

It appears the ETC has been sitting in a cold storage Ripple wallet of the exchange for the last 15 hours. Is this normal practice and do you, in general, think this is good practice?

I'm not going to point out any specific exchange but I'm having an issue. I have contacted support but it was an automated response. I used XRP to buy ETC and then withdrew the ETC and sent it to another wallet. The ripple transaction completed and ETC was issued but I'm not seeing anything on the Ethereum Classic blockchain. So my question is, if everything completed why has the ETC not been sent? This is not a Ripple issue, or an ETC issue, right? This is an exchange issue?

Update: It appears the ETC has been sitting in a cold storage Ripple wallet of the exchange for the last 15 hours. Is this normal practice and do you, in general, think this is good practice? Would you continue to use this exchange not knowing when the transaction would take place?

Same issue here. Initiated an ETC withdrawal from Gatehub over to Kraken wallet. Been over 11 hrs now and my ETC still hasn't gotten deposited (in Kraken wallet). Even Poloniex, which i personally finds shady performs the transfers of my digital assets to other wallets without any hiccups.....eagerly waiting for Gatehub to respond and react accordingly...

Thanks for the input. Earlier this week I did a withdrawal and it was immediately sent to the soft wallet of the exchange, but for some reason, today both went to their hard wallet.

I'm pretty new at this so it took me a while to figure out where it went. If it helps, take a look at the ending part of the withdrawal transaction record where it shows the address the btc/eth/etc were sent to and look for the corresponding wallet address on this page. https://gatehub.net/gateways/fifth/

Then you'll at least know where it is.

Do you use GateHub often and is this common? I just need a reliable service. I don't want to guess which wallet they might be sending to to the next time.

This is the first time i've encounter this. I have been sending ETC to Poloniex and it always get through within an hour. However, this is the first time i am attempting to transfer ETC over to Kraken and unfortunately, it gets stucked in Gatehub's cold wallet. Lets hope for the best!

So again, and I am being completely serious, where is the problem?

Having my assets unavailable obviously doesn't help me, so is this an error or does this help the exchange? And if so, how?

I would love insight from folks who have been trading for a while or have a better understanding of how exchanges operate. My first week with this exchange has been really great until today.

Hi @LordVetinari

found this on Gatehub's blog, could this be the cause of the delay?

https://support.gatehub.net/hc/en-us/articles/115003831785-Ethereum-withdrawal-problems

I saw that earlier, much earlier, 10 hours earlier and since then there have been dozens of transactions in their ETC hot wallet, so... I wish they'd just send it and let me deal with the congestion.

Sometimes I'd rather sit in slow moving traffic than at home bored. :)

I just hope it's not a permanent thing, I just got the hang of their website and some code for easier calculations.

So, I have received some, not all, but some  of the ETC that was being held and it seems others have to as well. I'm pleased and relieved to see action being taken.

I would still be very interested to know if this was an error or if there is a reason this happened.

Were transactions getting kicked back because of network congestion so it falls back to the hard wallet?

Is it a security measure? Too many withdrawals could be interpreted as a potential hack.

Or an automatic configuration change because the hot wallet was low on funds?

I think it would be very useful for users to understand what happened. It would greatly reduce confusion, concern, etc. in the future.

@gregor I encourage someone from Gatehub to just take a moment and set the record straight. It would be in the best interest of everyone.

With that said.. Thanks to everyone who put up with me. I do recognize this is an xrp forum and I do appreciate you set aside a spot for users to discuss and try to work these things out.

May we all get filthy rich!
