Can someone please explain this to me in simple, understandable English because everything I have found is not simple enuff for me. I have read every hyper link offered on this site and others and none really tell you how. Here is what I am trying to do... I have my wallet on a piece of paper that I printed after sending my XRP's to the wallet address. Now if I choose to sell some of my XRP's how do I get them from my wallet to an Exchange like bitstamp?

In case you want to send them to Bitstamp or any other exchange that doesn't include a ripple wallet (Poloniex,Kraken,etc...) you will do it in three steps :

1. install a wallet on your PC : go to https://www.xrpchat.com/links/ and choose one of them in Wallets section. I think Rippex is the most popular one. It was created by Ripple Labs back then, but they had to discontinue the service due to regulations. It is maintained now by somebody else.

2. import wallet by inserting your sercret key (the one on the paper) into the Rippex wallet. Send xrp to the address (+dest tag if there is one) that you find in step 3. First try a small amount.

3. Open an account at Bitstamp, (or any other exchange), choose Deposit (Ripple) and find your deposit address (and destination tag!! if there is one)

or, even easier :

In case you choose Gatehub, you can do it in one step (because it includes a ripple wallet) :

1. Open an account at Gatehub, import your wallet by copying your secret key - the one written on your paper and

... voila, your xrp's are on Gatehub, waiting for a new owner

Note you can use step 1 in the second procedure instead of step 1&2 in the first procedure and send them to any other exchange from gatehub's wallet

Let me know if you need more details on any of the above steps...

I am a bit worried about my offline paper wallet.  I saw a thread about secret key not matching public key but I used the bithomp generate cold wallet page so in my case I have used different software than the problem one.

But I'm wondering about testing my secret key.  Global has told me it is best to do an offline sign test,  thnaks... it's good advice,  but that would require a reformat and reset of an old PC and it's all a bit too hard.

i don't have very much ripple so it's not worth that.

So lazy man way...  I was thinking if I imported the secret key into Gatehub I would then be able to see my Zerps if the key worked.  Then I could delete the Gatehub wallet and unless I was really unlucky I am back to being warm (not truly cold...) wallet happy.

My concern is does a Gatehub Delete of Wallet with funds still in it set the Ripple Ledger to 'Disabled' or something for my wallet?

That wold be bad...   :)        Any opinions (other than...   Man! are you lazy or what!) would be most appreciated.     :)
