Kraken - Safe to hold XRP ?

Recommended Posts

All,

I see this topic has been kicked around before, but am still unclear of a decent answer.

I'm using Kraken to purchase and store my XRP's. I have 2 factor authentication turned on for all aspects, along with a 16 character password which is solid (upper/lower/numbers/special characters)

Is this sufficient to hold a fairly large investment in XRP ? ($5000 currently)

Thanks for any and all thoughts.

General rule of thumb is keep the XRP you are holding on Gatehub (which is on the XRP ledger), and any XRP you expect to trade on an exchange.

Exchanges have more liquidity and more trading pairs but you are really only holding a promissory note that they owe you x amount of whatever token.  Any transaction that moves the token off the exchange initiates a process of sending the amount they owe you from the wallet they control on each native ledger.

I am looking into the ledger nano as well, but that is for a concern about wallet security.  Exchanges also have a security risk, but with the added risk described above.

Noooo. No online storage is safe. The clearest answer that you will get is to stire your money yourself in your oen wallets on your own computer. Why would you relynon some clown to secure your money that you do nit even know?

And never state how much money you are holding. All you are doing is defining yourself as a target.

for a reasonable price ?

What's the Ledger as a % of current hodlings today, or what it could be tomorrow?

With that perspective, it's usually a pittance for that kind of security, imho.
