nkharadi
I opened 2 accounts to try this Ripple thing. One on Kraken, one on Gatehub. My wire transfer to Kraken has not been deposited into my account yet even though it shows as having been complete from my bank over a week ago. And Gatehub says I cannot do anything on that account without having at least 20 Ripple. I don't get it. Any Tips?
JamesRay
Once you've deposited into Gatehub you will be able to purchase XRP (not Ripple). The free XRP offer will not be activated until you make your initial purchase of 20 XRP or more. I have not used Kraken but I advise you contact their support team if your account has not been credited. I assume you included your individual number in the transaction reference? namini
If you did a wire transfer to Kraken and it has not been deposited to your account yet, contact their support. Gatehub offers a Ripple wallet (XRP not stored on Gatehub but directly on Ripple ledger) which needs 20 XRP to be activated, but yes it's dumb because they won't allow to use their service if you don't activate your wallet yourself. Btw this minimum amount is called "base reserve" and cannot be withdrawn or spent. https://ripple.com/build/reserves/ Edited July 17, 2017 by namini mike91
g00p
Its an annoying catch 22 with gatehub of having to have XRP before you can buy XRP, that frustrated me too. I transferred some ETH to Kraken just to get started and then moved that XRP to gatehub. I'd definitely check on the wire transfer though, although the long wait time is further validation the Ripple is going to happen sooner than later. Alluvial
Assuming you know that each exchange requires a verification process regarding you as the account holder. On Kraken, for example, there is a tab called "get verified" if I recall. And you must achieve certain "tiers" of verification before you can receive fiat into your account (my recollection).
