Is it possible to send you NZD via Poli?

I pay for quite a few things in NZ using Poli.  Just wondering.

Yes I believe technically thats possible through Poli Pay however we are at the moment not setup to handle NZD and then again we have the missing financial service license for New Zealand. I will make some further inquiries with our legal & compliance team and reach out if there is any other way.

Hi Guys,

First post, I bought my first ripple yesterday, just a test run with $250 Aus, used local coinspot though not happy with the fees they charge.  3% buy & sell cost on total investment.

Saw the post from @bravo re FlashFX and looking at using this after I sold some asx stock today.  I read on the Gatehub fees page though that they charge for international wire deposits. Has this changed since you did the transaction, is the transfer from FlashFX  @Nicolas treated as international wire transfer?

This is what I read on gatehub site: International Wire Deposit0.1 %, min. fee $15.00, max. fee $130

I'm fairly new to crypto and looking to invest more in the future and see FlashFX as a potential way to access XRP with reducing my overheads.... I think it's a bit rich from the $250 invested yesterday I paid over $7 in fees.  I'm looking to invest a lot more than that but without the high fees.

Does FlashFX have the ability to transfer USD to other platforms with more altcoins support?  I want to diversify a little with XRP being one of the larger investments though I have my eyes on a few others too.

Cheers,

Adam

Dear Adam, if you are using FlashFX to move AUD funds to USD gatehub, then all you are paying in the FX spread of the conversion. There is NO transaction fee on FlashFX  and there is fee to fund your Ripple wallet at Gatehub. Your conversion will happen on Ripple and the payment to your wallet is done on Ripple so there is no international wire transfer happening or a associated fee.

At the moment we are very much supporting the Gatehub platform, from there you can access other platforms too. We are working to enable a direct link to Bitstamp as we had some issues with 1 USD gate hub not being equal to 1 USD bitstamp. At @gatehub you can buy XRP.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Yes and No. If you use a standard bank-bank transfer then yes, its not great. Later this year, we'll have the new new payment platform enabled which will speed up that process dramatically (locally only). If you use Poli Payment (Australia Post service), then we will process the deposit a lot quicker, i.e. we don't have to wait to clear your deposit.

Thanks Nicolas on the fast reply.  I've setup accounts with both gatehub & flashfx, also transferred 20rp from coinspot so my gatewayhub wallet is now active.

Now need to followup on security angle to try and make this work more securely, not so keen on the gh browser / wallet combo on windows though ok with testing etc.  Will evaluate what options are available and make sure to avoid the pitfalls of not doing things right.

HI AdamM,

In my case I only had 20 XRP, I was able to transfer $AU converted to $US from Flash-FX because I had a Trust Line in $US to Gatehub.

( Gatehub does not use $AU) Then I made my Flash-FX transfer to Gatehub directly into my Ripple wallet in $US.

I had my money there in 10 seconds (to Gatehub) directly into my Ripple wallet in $US. Sydney to London Woo HOO!

I'm thinking that because I did not Xfer through the banking system that there were no fees at all. Only a 2% spread that Flash-FX gets, No fees.

So on $250 I'm thinking you will only pay $5 AU  not $7 and not have to wait in line at the post office for a half hour trying to get your money to Coinspot.

You will need to transfer another 30 XRP to your Gatehub ripple wallet so that you can start trading there.

Gatehub requires that you have 50 xrp minimum in your ripple wallet before you can use the trading platform.

Correct me if I am wrong, i't's  because there needs to be 20 xrp to keep a wallet active and 5 xrp for each trustline.

Even so there may be a small, tiny ripple fee on each move.

So Gatehub just wants you to have 50 xrp in your trading wallet ,  just as Gatehub require a minimum $50 bank deposit just as Flash-FX requires $ 200 deposit

just the same as the ASX requires a minimum $500 first trade for shares.

As far as security goes, use the 2 step authentication protection provided by Gatehub and Flash-FX. They both use the AUTHY APP for Mobile phones.

On Flash-FX you only need the AUTHY code when making transfers etc.

AUTHY APP for Mobile phones Gives you a code token on your phone when logging in with your password on your computer.

Don't use your email password. Have letters, numbers and symbols in your password.

Keep your Gatehub security key Offline on a couple of USB sticks, not on Your computer in case you get hacked.

Without your Gatehub security key you may not be able to get your money back. Keep your wallet addresses there  on the USB stick too..

Keep your Widows Updates up to date and use Anti-Virus protection. Some good ones are even free, like AVG.

Never answer the phone and offer your personal details, ask if you can call back if it is something important.

If you don't make any serious gains for a few years, don't take all of that stuff to the local rubbish tip like the Dude with the 700 bitcoins.

He is currently short of $US 1.4 million though it was only about $840,000 when he chucked that cruddy old computer out.

Enjoy your day! There are only so many.

@Nicolas What's your policy for external MM on placing liquidity on the markets AUD.flash-fx:USD.gatehub and AUD.flash-fx:EUR.gatehub? Because I see you use the market on RCL with your issued AUD.

Hey, yes we are open for external MM on placing liquidity between us, Gatehub and Bitstamp.

@bravo  Thanks for the reply.  The poli payments can be done online too, so waiting isn't an issue.  Usually from where you want to pull the money too, you can initiate the poli payment, authenticate to the bank where the funds are within a poli portal and the money is instantly available for transacting.

I have a bit of experience in IT, working as a systems engineer helps me a little in this regard and have already setup 2F auth on all the trading platforms.  I was considering using tails on usb or deep freeze on a virtual machine though tbh the extra work isn't something I want to have to deal with long term in maintaining images, version updates etc.  I know I don't want to keep large amounts on exchanges, hot wallets etc and will buy a ledger wallet nano s for my savings (bank)... came to this conclusion last night after doing further research on paper wallets and other cold storage options.

I wouldn't sleep straight if everything was somewhere available online.  Just need to strike that balance between flexibility and offline secure storage to bank future profits (hopefully).
