We Need to Keep Pressure on Coinbase

Until we have a better alternative here in the U.S., I think we need to keep pressure on Coinbase to add XRP... the fact that they have Litecoin and not XRP is mind-boggling.

What is the deal with Brian Armstrong?  Does he not understand what kind of money he's giving up not carrying XRP?   What is he waiting for?

Kraken is located in San Francisco, and it now offers XRP in four trading pairs.  But it must be purchased on the Kraken exchange whereas Coinbase (if I recall) makes it slightly easier by simply saying this is the price right now at which you can buy the digital currency.  The latter is more for novices, but I am sure a lot of people like the simplicity of it.

But completely agree about Coinbase, no reason whatsoever that I can see why it would not offer XRP.  Seems like this is placing a grudge over an obvious business decision - rarely a good business strategy.

just like the rest of the bitcoin zealots, they're too arrogant and narrow midned to be saved

I've got to say I'm suspicious of the true "difficulty" argument for an organization as large as Coinbase.  I hope it's not ideological.

In general, I harbor no ill will towards owners / investors in any coin, and I actually adhere to some of the libertarian thinking.  However, I would have to agree that I grow impatient as well when we hear slanted reporting or are just purposefully not given our due.  15 banks have implemented RIpple tech; how many banks have implemented other alt coin tech?  (in production)

@Alluvial: I don't like Kraken for the fact that you can't just simply add your banking info or use a Debit card and transfer money easy....you have to do it via a costly wire transfer.....

I use Coinbase, among others, and have written them asking them to add XRP trading pairs, to which I received no reply. I guess I'll just keep asking.

yes, and it's wise to remember that whenever BILLIONS of $$$ flows into a new unregulated space, there is a HUGE criminal element and even bigger element that is just outright lies, propaganda, manipulation in media articles, etc, to protect investments... it's just natural human greed

and remember, bitcoin has ZERO use case ("store of value" is NOT a use case) so bitcoiners and their ilk (litecoiners, maximalists, ripple-haters, etc) have to rely on pure faith/belief, which is powered, as always, by a religious-style zealotry and misinformation campaign pushed out through the media

Don't waste your time in a back fight with Coinbase. Ripple has more than enough on hands with the real battles on the front....

SWIFT HQ in "Terhulpen" (near Brussels) is only 6 miles from the Waterloo battlefields.... indeed that little place in Belgium with the copper Lion placed on top of a memorial hill to remember the surrender of that famous empire called "Napoleon" ....

BTW - "Terhulpen" translated from local language (Dutch) to English sounds like "Rescue is on its way"

Symbolics may count...  :)

Ripple has worked with dozens? of other exchanges worldwide, and Coinbase is being left in the dust.  It is "so two thousand and eight" to think you're smarter than your customers and not give users what they want.  It's far past time in my opinion for them to offer a multi-coin wallet that can support 20+ coins.

I agree. One of the problems is that coinbase is one of the few crypto exchanges licensed to operate in NY. So lot of people are right now not buying XRP because it it too convoluted to go through other routes. Few of my colleagues own ETH and BTC and they just hold it on Coinbase. So there is defintely a lot of money we are missing out because of lack of availability on coinbase.

We really need two things right now to break the discouraging correlation with ETH/BTC. We need coinbase and more exchanges to add XRP/USD.

I think you're right.  There's a lot of money being held up by Coinbase dragging its feet here in the U.S.

This is one sticking point that is still in place and we need to keep removing these barriers to entry into XRP and make it easier for investors to choose the right crypto-currency!

I wonder why Coinbase is not adding XRP.  They are not ignorant. It would be nice to hear they perspective.

As opposed to many other exchanges that are filling up their offerings with every ICO out there, Coinbase has been very picky and their selection proves that what they chose so far did well.  It would just be interesting to hear the due diligence that they go through.
