If you've got some spare time: full conference coverage

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

It seems some "Blockchain Innovation Conference" took place in The Netherlands on June 22nd.

The pro: it is spoken in English for us to understand ;-)
The con (or second pro if you wish) : you get a full recorded coverage of the entire day's event.

So take out some popcorn and sit down for a 10 hour recording!

https://blockchaininnovationconference.com/
Click "Full Conference" for the live recording.

There is  enough to be heard, also the critical minds like David Birch. Some banks were there too: Chairman of Rabobank at 2h:46 , ("I visited Ripple personally in 2014, didn't get it but we tested it, it worked in the test, but we moved on") and ING at 9h:04 ("growing pains inside banks" in relation to blockchain). You may find both the banking guys to be a tad underinformed on the solutions Ripple Inc. is nowadays offering with ILP   .  And don't forget Chris Skinner at the end. (And NO, I did not see all of this recording!)

Here's a quick copy of the day's agenda (can be found on the website too):

I didn't watch all of this, but I caught a 2 hour cut of it last week on YouTube.  Couple take-aways that stood out to me.

The KPN telecom gent, Joris Geertman, was talking about internet of things & said they've been able to increase milk production in cattle by 60%.  Sensors are optimizing feeding cycles.  He also said he sold some of his BTC for IOTA, which encouraged to bet on that tech.  His talk was good.  At 4:34.

Just following Joris was the worldwide director of  HPE.  He was well spoken, but sounded like he'd never heard of Ripple before.  He was referencing transaction times & technology evolution that sounded outdated to me.  I just assume they have a conflict of interest.  He's talking about there is not technology to scale financial transactions & that's HPE's specialty.  I call BS.

Wow, that was an interesting one that I had not yet  noticed : the KPN guy going into IOTA , suggesting selling all of his BTC for IOTA ?

It remains a bet indeed , at least for the coming years, but I got myself some IOTA too shortly after the ICO (no, not at the top, but on the first run-down ;-)

He was asked by the moderator if he owned BTC & ETH.  He said yes & then said 'I changed my Bitcoin for IOTA'.  I cannot imagine that he'd dump all his BTC.  That would be silly.  He's also speaking in his second language - altough the Dutch speak english nearly perfectly.  But I was encouraged by his talk & overall sentiment.  This guy has a ton of experience & knows much more than I.  I, too, nibbled on the first run-down starting in the mid-50's.  I loaded up sub 40 cents & flipped 20% at 45 cents.  I've been able to get my average down below 39 cents.  Hopefully I don't wake up to it being halved.  I really need to figure out if/when there's an expiring lock-up...

Hi ML,

I thought I heard him saying Bitcoins (plural) , but you're right - it isn't all that important anyway. Simply the fact that such a guy is putting his money where his mouth is - that is encouraging indeed for such a newcomer as IOTA is. Let''s see where this thing brings us in 5 - 10 years from now ;-)
