phib
Im new to the whole Ripple and wallet thing. I sent some BTC to my gatehub hosted wallet with the desire of buying Ripple. However, a hosted wallet cannot buy ripple. I want to now move my BTC from my gatehub hosted wallet to my gatehub ripple wallet. However there is a ripple network fee preventing me from doing so. I have no ripple in my gatehub hosted wallet. What steps do I need to take to move the ripple from my hosted wallet onto my ripple wallet?
CRJ
I hope this video answers your question. Currently, I'm having trouble moving my money back to Coinbase. Good luck
NanamiIsLove
Connect to gatehub fifth gateway(BTC IOU issuer), move BTC (as btc) to ripple wallet, sell btc for XRP on trade/exchange. Edited June 4, 2017 by NanamiIsLove
phib
I tried to move BTC to ripple wallet, but it requires that I have from ripple to begin with. I dont have any ripple at this moment.
namini
If you verify your phone number with Gatehub, usually they activate your wallet with 20 XRP. You can also convert any cryptocurrency to XRP on an exchange like Poloniex and send them to your Gatehub wallet (send at least 20 XRP). You can also activate with paypal https://bithomp.com/activation/ Edited June 5, 2017 by namini
phib
Thanks Namini, however this is only with a ripple wallet. I want to move the funds from my hosted wallet to my ripple wallet, which has no ripple funds.
namini
@phib well yes it's the chicken and egg problem. You need to have at least 20 XRP on the Ripple wallet to activate it. Did you sort your issue?
phib
@namini thanks for your reply. Hosted wallets do not require 20 XRP to activate. Ripple wallets do. As it stands, I dont have any XRP in my hosted wallet, nor do I have a way of buying XRP using BTC from my hosted wallet. Issue is unresolved at this time. namini
@phib yes I understand your issue. I see several solutions to your problem as I explained above: - Activate your wallet with paypal https://bithomp.com/activation/ cost around $10/10€ - Trade any cryptocurrency you have on any other website for XRP and send at least 20 XRP to your Gatehub wallet address (start with a r...) Maybe you can send some of the BTC you have on Gatehub to a website like Poloniex? (or maybe you can't do that with a hosted wallet). If you really can't figure it out, post your wallet address here (start with a r...) moderators don't like people asking for activation but looks like you're really struggling. phib
Thanks Namini. I didnt realize I need to activate my hosted wallet. I about 20$ on that wallet at this time. Wouldn't really make sense to activate it. Its strange that I can accept BTC without activation... Anyways here is my wallet address to deposit/accept ripple. rhub8VRN55s94qWKDv6jmDy1pUykJzF3wq?dt=263730907
namini
@phib No, hosted wallet don't need activation. But you need to transfer your btc from your hosted wallet to your Ripple wallet to trade. And yes you need to have your Ripple wallet activated first. @enej it's really complicated, and I also noticed wallets funding is paused. namini
@phib I don't think you need to have XRP in your hosted wallet to transfer your BTC to your Ripple Wallet (edit: actually you might need a few XRP to pay for transaction fee) But yes you need to have your Ripple Wallet activated with at least 20 XRP. phib
@namini Here is a screenshot. I do indeed need ripple to pay for the transaction fee. I have 0 ripples. How do I send this out?
namini
@phib and did you receive the small XRP amount you sent to your hosted wallet earlier?
