rohanneal
Hello Guys I just received my ledger NANO S. Took me 10-15 min to setup and i transferred all my ripples from GATEHUB to my NANO S. It worked really well and it took only 2-3 second to transfer XRP. Good luck to all of you...keep your XRPs safe as one day YOU WILL COME BACK and see how much worth they are....come back and read this post again and again. regards danijess, Kiir, ZIGXRP and 5 others

Guest
having road tested since it arrived today, i can say -- pretty smooth setup, i like it i feel safer having at least some of my xrp in this device -- peace of mind sending/receiving is very fast only fiddle bit was getting the ripple app on there, i had to put the main ledger app first, and kept needing to connect and reconnect the device, though it didn't specify to do that - but whatever, that's pretty minor impressed! DEPTataku
What is the best way to store your 24 word Ledger recovery key? I'm paranoid about keeping mine on my computer in case someone 'remote hacks in' (not sure how the computer worlds works is that possible?) so I keep my on an external USB (actually two USBs so as not to have only one point of failure). At first I had a picture of the 24 word key snapshot on my phone but then I thought: HELL NO NSA CAN'T HAVE MY RIPPLES!

All you need to transfer funds in is the wallet address beginning with r. The funds are held on the XRP ledger in cyberspace, not local to you. The Nano S merely guards the secret key that gives access to the funds. And the 24 word password is almost as important to safeguard as the secret key, because anyone who has it can restore it to another Nano and take all your XRP! I think I have that correct. If you're correct, that is WAY cooler than what my brain was thinking. I always thought my precious XRPs were hiding inside my very expensive necklace (Ledger Nano S comes with a lanyard). So I bought the neclace for $67 and now it is worth exponentially more than that! but if my throught process is wrong, its not the Ledger that is worth anything, but rather the 24 word phrase is really the only thing that matters.... You are correct. And you can further safeguard your 24 word list by using hints for some in place of the words that only you (or a significant other) would know. Be creative but not to the point you'd forget in 10 years what your hints are for the words you used. My old high school The sport I suck at etc... Print it out without worry of someone being able to figure out a: what the list is or b: what some of the answers are.

USB flash drive is not a safe place to store your secrets (especially if whose secrets are not encrypted on those drives). Besides the obvious that someone could easily steal it if it is not ecrypted, USB drives are very poor at long term storage, because of the way they store data. CDs and DVDs not much better. HDDs I would say is a bit better, but still it can loose data over time, especially if you do not make full copy to itself of all its contents once in 3 years or something like that. Sorry to say this but paper in this digital age is till the most reliable way to store information. That is encrypted, printed on paper and stored somewhere safe (from people and physical elements) in 2 separate places. Can not beet that.
