Can we do anything with ILP yet?

The price of XRP is great, but I'm much more interested in a decentralized network for moving value that hamstrings all of today's rent-seeking middle men. Think of all the interesting things that could grow up from such a network.

Does this answer your question? https://www.eventbrite.com/e/interledger-workshop-at-blockchain-expo-1-2-june-berlin-tickets-34221014977

This IS the most exciting thing of 2017 in financial/crypto industry. Also can't wait to see more of it.

Ps. did you see this one.

It's my understanding that we're not yet at the point where there's real world ILP use? Is that right?

One of the ironies of the crypto world is that it's hard to move money in and out. ILP could crack that nut.

They have demos so I assume they are amping up for something

I think gatehub may use it internally for some things, certainly at the very least they are developing ILP functionality very much into their system.

Some of the demos the ILP developers have been doing send real funds on live networks - eg, today they traversed 7 different ledgers with live funds, which was kind of insane - but it worked, and shows the potential.  Otherwise it's essentially at the alpha stage (a lot further along then competitors).

One thing the devs do on a practical level at the moment, is sorting out lunch payments.  They will go out for lunch together (and talk ILP the whole time, these guys *never* rest), and at the end one person will pay the bill.  Later, they each settle their part portion of the bill with the person who paid, on the live ILP network.  Obviously, this is a small and trivial use-case - but it allows them to experiment daily with real funds on the network as they develop, so it's practical and beneficial in that sense.

Early adopters will benefit from utilising ILP as part of existing or new solutions. Exchanges and gateways especially.

Can't wait to see the real commercial initiatives being deployed. It's really a great achievement.
