OwenJ
Hey guys. I hope you're able to give me some advice on what to do next. I've been trying to buy some xrp a few different ways the past 2 weeks with still no luck. I initially created an account on gatehub and attempted to do their verification for bank deposit, it sat there for over a week and now my only option is to resubmit the documents. I then went to kraken and all verification tiers are still pending a week later. So I loaded up my old Coinbase account to buy some more btc and send it to my gatehub account but now Coinbase is declining my card for some reason. Been extremely difficult, I'm in Australia so if anyone has any suggestions on the best way to proceed from here that would be appreciated. Trippy
I'm in Australia, OwenJ. I have an account on Gatehub. I had a few hiccups with them but my account is up and running. I suggest you don't use the Exchange section of Gatehub to get your XRP. I don't know what your authentication problem is with Gatehub, but I suggest you try again and if no luck contact them. Chunks
i got through with bitstamp quite easily but some friends have struggled waiting for verification to be approved. there's been a huge increase in applications lately and they're struggling to keep up with demand ( my opinion ) , they've since been cleared but it took a lot longer than the 2 day turn around i had. also live in aus. coinspot went through "very" quick but wasn't sure i trusted them enough( being "new" to the crypto scene), and not too keen on the site ( again, my opinion ). if you want them quickly i'd suggest coinspot, if you're patient, i'd choose bitstamp/ A N other * worth noting, coinspot prices are in aud, bitstamp in usd. Trippy
Thanks for that info, Chunks. Good to know about coinspot - I'll have to open an account with them. Though I don't trust any of these exchanges and will eventually move my XRPs into cold storage.

Galahad
Also new here and having trouble with verification. Why would you move your XRPs to cold storage? ...And what is cold storage? Haha, sorry - just trying to learn as much as I can asking questions around here.
Mercury
Verification may take some time based on the gateways, business or exchanges demand and your location. Since some verification depends on queuing the authorities of issuance it may take time. 6 hours ago, Galahad said: Also new here and having trouble with verification. Check out the links & resources tab for some helpful hints, guides and explanations. Essentially a cold wallet is somewhere you park your coins for a prolonged period, it is not online and one of the most secure methods of storage. Check this out for Monero (I'm not spruiking Monero, it's just for demo purposes). Once you create an address here if you send Monero to that address (say by converting Bitcoin), nobody will be able to access that Monero unless they have access to your private keys or mnemonic seed and your address details. You can store that information on a USB stick, a piece of paper or in your head if you have a good memory. This way your Monero is not subject to the security problems associated with having it on an exchange. But it has its own security issues - i.e. losing the information! https://moneroaddress.org/ Edited June 1, 2017 by Trippy Address
