Someone help please, Gatehub I traded BTC to XRP and LOST MONEY????WHY??

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone and please let me start off by saying I apologize as I am a BTC and XRP noob!  My friend bought XRP at .029 and told me about it at .09, regardless to say I finally got setup and approved to buy XRP so I already had coin base.  I tried to do this with only $650 at first and I'm glad I did.  I deposited $650 into coin base and had $650 of BTC... so then I transferred all BTC to gatehub.net and then I tried to use the "exchange" feature which was not working / did not allow me to exchange BTC for XRP.   So then I tried "Trade"... I set it up as BTC---->XRP and it allowed me to buy basically 2,095XRP and not my USD amount is $373  so basically I lost nearly half my money on this trade and I am so lost and it makes no sense.  I am very disappointed and was just wondering if someone is willing to explain why this happened??? I am so confused

I really appreciate your response and help

Thank you

You mean in the wallet view of gatehub? Currently 2000 XRP are worth approximately your 650 USD. Don't worry about what the wallet view shows you. You did not lose any money.

In order to 'fix' this. Go to the trade screen, select USD-XRP pair, load orderbook, go back to wallet view. How much does it show now?

omg really!?!?!?! thank you so much!!! yes in the wallet view - i was very very confused... i also noticed the prices are different in Gatehub.net like it says 1USD=6.5 XRP which means XRP is like .15c on gatehub which has me lost even more considering its what .31 - .32 right now!?!?!  thank you for you reply!!! this forum and website is awesome - I'm so glad i found this

In the wallet view it tries to value all of your funds and displays it into one currency. In order to do so, it needs to load the current prices of all funds (in your case only the USD/XRP price).

I also experience that (even without the issues ripplecharts was having today) that it sometimes only shows the current price after you load the specific orderbook in the trade-view. It can happen that then 'old' exchange rates are used in order to value your total funds.

Stick around for some longer. Great discussions going on here also, not only for help from more experienced users.

It is supposed to load automatically (the sell and buy orders in the bottom).  I am not sure if the above mentioned issues are already resolved though.
