discrepancies RippleCharts (Bitstamp) versus Bitstamp native

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been seeing this for a while now, and I can't quite understand what happens here:

On Bitstamp the native Bitstamp market price is shown;

On Ripplecharts it should be the same, but it is consistently showing a lower value.

First I thought, this might be a temporary glitch at RippleCharts. However, on just checking it again, I see it's still there.
Alternatively, maybe at RippleCharts the XRP/USD value is being calculated from Bitstamp's market prices for XRP/BTC + BTC/USD ?
If so, here's a suggestion for RippleCharts: Bitstamp has started trading XRP/USD  - FYI :biggrin:

Nonetheless, I am not sure what's going on.
Does anyone have an idea what's the cause of this discrepancy?

there are two bitstamp exchanges

one on ripple network, one internal to bitstamp

Exactly. In RCL there are USD and BTC IOUs issued by bitstamp. While in Bitstamp exchange there are also EUR (not issued on Ripple). Thlyey are "completely" separated markets. The data on Ripple chart is about the RCL trading.

Also the trading fees are different: 0.2% on RCL, variable (base 0.25%) on Bitstamp.

Because of different markets I was able to run an arbitrage bot between RCL and Bitstamp on USD:BTC pair.

Can you shed some light on how you were doing that?

I mean: did you perform manual arbitrage or did you somehow go into some programming this stuff?

Only once I did it manually, but it was mainly my programmed bot.
