specialenmity
Hey guys. I am a member of the original ripple giveaway thread. Unfortunately I think I backed up my wallet - key instead of my "secret key". I have a reaaaallly long text file that I backed my ripple wallet up to. Also I was only logged in before the conversion to github or whatever. So here is what I have: I have a wallet key which is a really long string of digits and characters backed up to a text file. I have my original username and password (which don't work since the conversion) I have my original ripple address that I linked in the giveaway thread which still contains the funds that never moved I have access to my username that was given the funds at the giveaway thread (to prove i'm the same person). Am I screwed? PS: I will gladly donate $100 in btc to anyone who helps get me access again. Edited May 9, 2017 by specialenmity
GreyAndroidGravy
Have you tried using the Ripple Desktop Client? It's available in the links&resources tab.
specialenmity
THe one that I have to compile is the best desktop one you think? do you think it will have the option to restore wallet from that text file? Or is that text backup not meant to restore a wallet? Google search didn't find much except a few others with the same problem but I don't see an obvious solution. I guess what i'm wondering: IS the really long backup I have not able to restore the wallet but for some other purpose? or does it include the ability to restore the wallet? If I somehow can't restore the wallet with the backup I have (the really long string) , can they give you access to the account if you can prove it is yours ? GreyAndroidGravy
If there's a chance that text file is going to work, it's most likely there. I don't know all the ins and outs, but afaik that's a Ripple product that continued when their site stopped. It's what I moved forward with after the conversion. I won't swear to it, but your original username/password may work with that as well. It's been so long, and my memory is horrible. I really hope it works for you.
