goripple
I know this has most likely been mentioned before, but just want to know if everything has been updated, like if there are better or newer wallets now. So as of 8th of May 2017, can anyone tell me the best Desktop/offline wallet to store XRP? *note - I am not a IT pro so have to be fairly easy to use as well

Hodor
@p14413 Yeah, that's the one "offline" or "desktop" one that is consistently mentioned. There are several online wallets. I do not make any claims about the security of any of these wallets, but I have not heard of any issues with either the Gatehub Ripple wallet, or the Bitstamp wallet. Both are online. Here is a post I made that quotes an article in themerkle that describes Rippex a bit: p14413

I have actually tried to use Rippex before, the thing is when I download the file for the wallet I my anti-virus picks it up as Malware.gen so I did not use it. And with Rippex's wallet it was detected as Malware?

This is most likely a false positive as many malware programs have miners and wallet stuff in them. I have been using Rippex for a little while, no problems, nothing weird. I'm on MacOS though. The Knight of Ahhrrgg
Your might also want yo upload the installer to www.virustotal.com where it will be scanned by multiple virus engines. If your virusscanner is shown as the one, or one of very few, scanners that label it as infected - then that would be an indication of a false positive. (Scanners can be using the same engines, so a couple of bad results can happen). However, if many bad results would show up, I would get worried too. Note: Virus Total is no safeguard, just an informational tool. Work from there, e.g. by sending the installer to the support desk of your virus software, for further investigation.
