Beethoven has a question, and the Quest for Artistic Tokenization: Seeking Guidance

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow art and XRP enthusiasts,

I stand before you with a passion for art and crypto-technology (particularly XRP). As a professional composer, I have created music compositions that have had the privilege of being performed by esteemed orchestras like the NY Phil, Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony. It's a legacy I am proud of, and one that I believe holds an exceptional standard in the field of classical and contemporary music.

In my quest to bring my music to a wider audience (the World's audience!), I've been exploring the world of digital tokenization. My works, like Beethoven's compositions (so that you easier can understand what I speak about), are intricately notated on music paper, thus creating the essence of my creative vision. The music is manyfold: it can be represented as a musical score (ie manuscript = visual art), intellectual property (as copyright or royalty), as a commission (purely support of the artist as a patron - such as "Brandenbourg Concertos"), dedication (purely personal, think "Für Elise").

I've been in the platforms like OpenSea and Rarible, but their current state leaves me feeling rather disheartened. I have minted already NFTs, but this system is not for me. I firmly believe that my compositions deserve more than to be drowned out by the noise of trends and hollow monopolies and "bored apes" soup. My goal is to connect with individuals who share a genuine appreciation for high-quality art, particularly in the classical and contemporary composition realm, on a new technology platform (or even created by my own).

I'm reaching out to this community because I'm not just looking for answers, but for a dialogue, how it can be done in the real world: tokenization of music composition. I want to engage in discussions about the intricacies of tokenization:

--- Understanding Tokenization: How does the process of tokenization work, especially in the context of music compositions? What are the technical aspects and considerations I should be aware of?

--- Tokenizing My Works: I'm eager to learn how I can tokenize, at least parts of, my compositions. How do I go about turning my scores into digital tokens? What aspects of the composition can be tokenized while preserving its artistic integrity? Manuscript? Dedication? Commissiom?

---- Promotion and Sales: One of my greatest challenges lies in promoting and selling my tokenized compositions to individuals who genuinely appreciate the art I create. How can I navigate this complex landscape to connect with those who are passionate about supporting a classical and contemporary composer of the highest caliber?

I want to emphasize that the creation of a full-scale composition takes not just weeks, but often months, if not years, of dedication and artistic refinement. Each work is a labor of love and a testament to the exceptional, not solely in my opinion, but through the recognition of renowned awards received. I believe that the new technology will make a radical shift of how the art's value is transferred.

With anticipation, "Ludwig van Beethoven"

  • Opus131 changed the title to Beethoven has a question, and the Quest for Artistic Tokenization: Seeking Guidance

TLDR

I have many thoughts in my head, and these lead to more specific questions. All of these are related to the XRP Ledger.

  • What distinguishes tokens from NFTs, and are there distinct advantages to creating either form?
  • Is it possible to tokenize intellectual property, such as "composition," "commission," "copyright," or "dedication"?
  • Is there a dedicated platform tailored for the trading of tokens and NFTs exclusively on the XRP Ledger? Can I present my tokens for sale in a manner that prevents them from becoming lost in the sea of countless other tokens and NFTs? Furthermore, is it feasible to facilitate such transactions directly on my personal website?

I express my heartfelt gratitude! A lot of various information awaits exploration through the links you've kindly provided. But I wish to say that I've already familiarized myself with all aspects concerning NFTs.

Here a concrete question:

  • Is it possible to tokenize intellectual property, such as "composition," "commission," "copyright," or "dedication", and can it be offered for distribution on trading platforms?

EDIT: My questions are based on my effort to understand it all, where I -- despite diligently made efforts to explore NFT/tokens I -- couldn't find answers for my questions. Links provided above by f1f47a23 can help me dig deeper into that sphere, but there are too many doors to open...

Dear friends,

I'm eager to go further into the world of NFTs on XRPL and need your help and advice on my first project. Sorry for asking for these baby-steps, but I am just a composer.

My initial, first idea is that I want to create NFTs representing handwritten manuscript pages. These can be both digital and or digital+analog, but I'm not sure if I can also send the physical pages to the buyer along with the digital token. Does XRPL support this combination of digital and physical?

Additionally, any recommendations for NFT creation tools on XRPL, security measures for authenticating physical items, and legal considerations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

p.s. I have played around within the Polygon network and was able to create various ERC tokens using the predefined template in Solidity. It was quite easy. But I am totally lost with XRP...! /p.s.

For minting one NFT on XRPL requires 100 XRP, is that true?

On Polygon it is about 0.2 MATIC (=0.2 XRP approx. today).

No.

It varies,  but rule of thumb is 12th of an XRP per NFT.

From https://xrpl.org/nft-reserve-requirements.html :

Quote

A good rule of thumb is to assume, on average, that each NFTokenPage stores 24 NFTs. Therefore, you can estimate the reserve requirements for minting or owning N NFTs as (24N)/2, or 1/12 of one XRP per NFT.

I didn’t know about NFT cost so a minute ago I used Google.

I have tried it through XUMM and it was the requirement (100XRP).

I really like XRP as the community and XRP as the utility. However, creating NFT seems to me quite advanced, somehow awkward and costly in comparison to Polygon (btw classical composers are in general - not rich, usually opposite).

I have idea to create a collection and numerous NFTs inside of it that will represent actual manuscript pages of a work-in-progress. The sold NFT pages will also include a real manuscript sent by post. This will offer a composer (me) an opportunity for a sustainable artistic creation backed by patrons and supporters, and they will also be able to own a physical good.

Can someone help me lead through the process?

See my post above.  It’s actually cheaper than polygon.

Why it’s dearer if you use XUMM I have no idea,  but I actually suspect you are doing it wrong.

It is totally possible that I am doing it wrong. In XUMM there is an xApp called "Token creator". The fee is 100XRP.

Im sorry that I can’t be of more help but I did see that you had the wrong idea about the XRP cost so I spoke up to let you know.

XUMM is a bit like a browser in this instance because it’s giving you an interface to other developers applications (Xapps) to do various things.  Apparently that developer has decided to charge 100 XRP to use their service creating NFTs.

If you do it another way it can be much less costly as ii initially mentioned.

Perhaps someone can speak up with a better suggestion on how to create NFTs inexpensively on the XRPL?  @JASCoder @at3n @Warbler

I engaged in a discussion on a Discord server where a user apprised me that there are, in fact, 2 XRP allocated for the creation of an "NFT Token Page." Additionally, there is an allocation of 2 XRP spent for every NFT for a so-called "NFT Token Offer." This, unquestionably, represents a rather substantial cost.

To elaborate further, if my intention were to mint 100 NFTs, the initial requirement would involve obtaining a sum of XRP to cater to the "NFT Token Page." And then, for eachNFT would 2 XRP needed for minting. It is worth noting that there is also a wallet reserve, amounting to 10 XRP. Consequently, a substantial total of about 230 XRP could be anticipated as the cost required to push the sale of 100 NFTs.

It's worth mentioning that the individual on Discord, who provided this information, is using xrpcafe. Could anyone confirm the accuracy of this information?

I gave you a link to the actual documentation.  It doesn’t require any skill to understand the main gist of it.

Some of your post is incorrect.

As before,  various developers providing convenience applications can charge whatever they like.  You do not have to pay that however if you do a very minimal amount of research and utilise the free tools available.
