10 XRP reserved

Recommended Posts

I am sorry for asking maybe a simple queation for many.

As I see, an XRP address has always 10XRP that are reserved for the address. Does it mean that if I have 100 XRP and resend 100% of the value, I will have nothing after the 10th wallet?

If I plan to send the maximum amount from one to the another wallet, in principle I will loose 20 XRP?

Base reserve for an XRP address are 10 XRP – anti-spam measure, to reduce the load on the ledger.

Those 10 XRP you cannot move out, whether you have 100 or 10 million XRP in your wallet address.

Each unique address requires those 10 XRP.

Since some time it's possible to delete an account address, so you get 8 XRP back; 10 XRP minus a 2 XRP deletion fee.

Okay.

So if I understand, if I move 200 XRP from A to B address, I will have 190 in the B address. Thereafter I can "delete" the account address and move 8 XRP to B address, and deletion will use 2 XRP, and the A address will not be activated. Finally I will have 198 XRP in the B account.

How is that done, the deletion?

How to delete your XRP Ledger account

U R a skilled IT

but I recommend 2 first do some tests (a lot of tests) before doing anything important,

because there R a lot of mistakes lurking along T road & many things can go wrongs.

Play with  TESTNET with dummy xrp coins & little money on T  MAINNET

Ok. If I have 200 XRP in the wallet A, and if I move 190 XRP to the wallet B, whatever now happens with A cannot affect the B?

Then I can proceed importing the A wallet into XUMM and delete it there.

If I understand it correctly.

yup, a test carried out on T TESTNET i suppose :JC_thinking:

Yes, every XRP address has a minimum balance of 10 XRP held in reserve. If you send 100% of your XRP balance, you will still have to keep the minimum 10 XRP in reserve. So, you will have 90 XRP left to transfer to another wallet.
