I have xrp on a platform that is not allowing withdrawals due to their legal problems, is there any way to recover my xrp from ripple or directly from some other source?

Unfortunately no.

BTW Ripple have absolutely nothing to do with it so I don’t know why you would think they could do something.

Well I thought when you buy xrp you are buying from the ledger and that, that is held on a third party platform wallet as a share since it is a commodity not a security, so the purchased xrp is origin is always at source.

Looks like you are saying this is incorrect

I’m sorry but I think you may have misunderstood the situation.  You did not ‘buy from the ledger’.  You bought them from some third party.

If it helps I can explain it like this…

The XRPLedger was originally created with 100 Billion XRP.  There can be no more created.  They were gifted to Ripple Labs by the original developers.  Ripple over the years have sold half that amount onto the open market and a variety of people have bought them.  They have been bought and sold perhaps many times or only the once…  that depends on the particular XRP involved.

You appear to have gone to an exchange where some people who had some XRP sold them to you.  Unfortunately from what you’ve said the exchange which had custody of those XRP are not able or willing to send them to you.

None of that problem is anything to do with Ripple.  I do feel bad for your situation and would be glad to hear that you have resolved it,  but unfortunately that is just something between you and the exchange.

I hope that clarifies things,  and again I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem.

Actually I misspoke….   not all the 100billion were gifted to Ripple labs.  The original founding developers allocated a chunk to themselves before gifting the remainder to Ripple Labs.

So some of the XRP on the secondary market were sold by devs or founders and some by Ripple.

Just clarifying….   although it doesn’t affect your situation.
