Ripple’s Surprising Swiss Acquisition - Game-Changing Moment in US Crypto Regulations?

Recommended Posts

Just three days after Judge Torres' decision, Ripple made an unexpected strategic move by announcing the purchase of Swiss company Metaco. According to Garlinghouse, the acquisition was a reaction to the US's murky regulatory landscape. With the help of new technological solutions for the custody, issuance, and settlement of tokenized assets, this move enables Ripple to broaden its market reach.

XRP community what you think - was this a strategic business move or a clever maneuver anticipating the lawsuit’s outcome?

Ripple's idea of trying to be US-centric for so many years is what brought trouble to the company in the first place, so any action to reduce US-risk is a good step.

The U.S. broke international financial norms, as related to many of its allies, when it came cryptocurrency enforcment. As much of a financial powerhouse the U.S. is, I hae the feeling that if it doesn't begin to cater to crypto it will loose out, damn near completely. That said I feel what the U.S. is doing is buying time for it to begin the process of retracting the U.S dollar as an international liquidity device that in the end if it is to not cause systemic hardship to the world, can be done over a long period of time. Now onto RIpple.

Ripple is also buying itself time for the U.S. to get its crap together while needing to expand worldwide and the aquisition of metaco is a tool in the kit Ripple now possesses to access Europe, ASEA, the Middle East, and Africa. Heck they may even use europe as a hub for trading with South America in order to get out of or around U.S. restrictions. In the end Ripple needs agility, and right now the U.S. is providing the opposite of agility and the rules, even if rigid, are not adequietly defines. This hampers progress and market penetration that is needed, if Ripples goal, of making xrp an international liquidity device is going to have a long term standing.
