Signing XRP transactions from non-digital wallets (paper wallet only)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

short question -  I wonder if there is still a way to sign transactions directly on the xrp-ledger from your explorer with typing in your secret key from a paper wallet and without having to download a digital wallet provider (like XUMM or hardware wallets like ledger)?

It was possible on bithomp i think but it seems to not work anymore?!

thanks in advance

Bithomp tools v0.5.2 still worked last time I used it a few months ago.

With regulations in europe (MiCa) potentially forcing digital wallet providers like XUMM doing ID-identification on users and all the buzz around ledger recently, i`d be happy to have the option to access my funds soley with my paper wallet only, on any device with internet access, without having to download anything.

Accessing your funds with digital wallets is great, but what if regulators in your country ban them - with you not being able to download or access those wallets without VPN's, what are the best options for transfering your funds with only your secret key written down on a piece of paper? (any other than theworldexchange?)

@Wietse?

MiCA does not require non custodial wallet providers to KYC. And by the way: we can't prevent you from using any secret anyway :) If Xumm wouldn't be around, your secret would still be perfectly valid elsewhere. Elsewhere could even be a download of our open source Xumm code ;)

Our thanks to Weitse for his work in this space.

So after reading his reply it makes sense that XUMM doesn’t need to KYC us users of the software….    the custodian on the coins is actually us.

And we do not need to KYC ourselves.   :)

My comment above is about custody and movement of the coin.  Obviously if we want to use some of the additional features available through the XUMM application there may be KYC implications.  As mentioned above the KYC on usage of the DEX is unclear as yet.
