joebob
My current device for 2FA is working just fine and I want to keep it. Is it possible to have a backup device at the ready for 2FA on Gatehub. If so how is that accomplished? Also if that is not advisable or possible please let me know. Thank you JoeBob
toobhunter
Sure, use Authy as your 2FA. You can have the mobile app on your phone and you can download the web app for your computer. So you won't be shut out unless you lose both devices..

Maybe a dumb question, but when you do both - password and second device code - on the same platform, can we than still talk about 2FA? I always saw 2FA as a strong protection in the first pace because if one device gets compromised, a hacker still needs access to the other device to open an account. By bringing both under control from one single device or platform, you'll be at risk if that device comes under control of an attacker... I consider my laptop quite safe from theft or hacking .. "2FA on chrome I use mainly as a backup if i loose my phone, or it breaks down.. easily expected scenario. maybe i am being overly confident that i am not compromised... but so far i feel comfortable with the setup. for added protection, i could install the extension on a different pc instead...
