Wallet For XRP (I know)

Okay guys,

I know this topic has been beat to death, but it really is hard sifting through the pages and pages of technical talk to find a wallet for XRP.

Requirements:

1) Holds XRP securely

2) Able to send and receive XRP quickly.

I already have GateHub, but I am weary to put bag there. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Gatehub provides you a real Ripple wallet, you will be able to access your funds with any others wallets as long as you have your secret key.

You can also use Rippex desktop Wallet, it will be as secure as your computer is.

Check this post I created:

I strongly advise people to stay with Gatehub or your favorite exchange unless you know what you're doing.

Gatehub has proven for many here to be stable, safe, easy & reliable (and supportive in case you've a problem).

100% agree

All wallets (software) that I have tried (check the link namini posted ) meet both of your requirements.

If you really want Cold storage....

While your stash is in gatehub, I recommend,

*figuring out how to create a wallet address and secret key (you can do this with any of the wallets or command line, etc, figure out what you like the best)

*sending 100xrp or so to fund it,

*then play around (send small amounts  back and forth, try offline signing, look into different commands, until you understand what happens behind the scenes) and then you will realize that the wallet software itself does not matter at all to big picture other than how it fits to your preferences.

I had the exact same question as you @Storm8559, why won't anyone give me a straight answer to a seemingly straightforward question? But it took a while of me digging down and figuring what I was looking for to finally realize no one could answer the question besides myself. The biggest difference besides UI and a few options you will probably not use is how each wallet has to be installed.

Knowing what I know now, I would say if this doesn't sound like something you want to look into then Gatehub wallets are perfectly fine and safe.

So if Gatehub go bust and their website goes down we can still access our xrp from another wallet provided we have our secret key?

And what's to stop gatehub from cleaning out my account should this happen?

If your funds are stored on a ripple wallet- even one used through Gatehub its as safe as your secret key. A hosted wallet on the other hand is only as safe as the provider

Ok good, I have three wallets set up on gatehub, I'll make sure majority xrp are on ripple wallet.

Just for my peace of mind though I'll ask this "potentially" stupid question.... if I can login to my account and transfers xrp between my xrp wallet and my hosted wallet.. what's stopping a rogue employee transferring my xrp from xrp wallet to my hosted wallet to their wallet?

Yes yes I am paranoid but I lost $15k in altcoins from cryptsy and I'd hate for this to happen again ?

Employees do not have access to your ripple wallet and/or its secrete key. Only you have the signing authority on the network, there is some technical magic going on behind the scenes that allows ripple wallets to sync to hosted but that would require someone with more wizardry than I to explain. I recall Gatehub's owner explaining it once or twice here before.
