We always knew banks/countries would likely just create their own digital currencies, but this still creates those "walled gardens" that Ripple has always intended on using XRP to bridge between them. What's better than a bunch of walled gardens they can connect? A bunch of walled gardens they built with their own tech intentionally to be easily connected to RippleNet / ODL. I have no doubt whatsoever that the concept works but we need first movers, not necessarily big countries (i.e. Butan & other pipeline initiatives) to show others the way.
