Flare launch details

I'm a little disappointed but not overly. They are being extremely careful and considering their main selling point will be to *securely* connect everything, they need to make sure it works and is secure. This is not just a crypto network for sending tokens from A to B quickly. Also I suspect some major exchanges were asking for more time to get ready for the distribution. I hope for the people on exchanges that there isn't a big lag between FTSO starting for self-holders and them. If I remember correctly there was a significant lag time for some with regards to songbird.

From Hugo "Most exchanges won't engage with Flare until the foundation ceases to be majority of the consensus. Hence there would be a lengthy wait between launch and most people receiving their tokens. Doing it this way allows exchange to onboard and is fairer as most people are likely to get their tokens at around the same time".

There's a lot of moving parts, and changes to the existing process, that all need to be co-ordinated after the network is launched and before the FTSO is turned on.

Busy (busier) times ahead.

My guess is that if the nodes aren’t fully decentralised, the token distribution risks being considered sale of investment contracts and the exchanges don’t want to take that risk.
