CD312
apparently metamask cant function with xrp...thats the silliest thing ive heard in a long time. why not for 1, but 2, are we just supposed to forget about it and move on? i lost 24k because nobody told me that sacrificing for pulsex was impossible
brianwalden
1) MetaMask is a wallet for blockchains that run the Ethereum Virtual Machine. It doesn't work for other types of blockchains like Bitcoin, the XRPL, Cosmos-based chains, etc. Basically it only works for Ethereum-based chains and that's by design, not a bug. 2) You're not supposed to do anything. Do what you want. 3) XUMM is the most popular XRPL wallet, but remember the XRPL is not a smart contract network. It can't do everything that Ethereum does. 4) It sounds like maybe missing out on your PulseX investment may have been a blessing in disguise. Maybe slow down and get a better understanding of how different things work first. Crypto is a high-wire act without a safety net - it's very easy to get rekt if you don't know what you're doing. Then it sounds like XUMM and others will be able to start launching a new suite of tools - new to the XRPL at least. I'm quite literally going grey while waiting, but I still have faith this stuff will come to fruition one day. Speed, negligible fees and smart contract capabilities. XRPL ftw or something. You can get this on pretty much any smart chain except Ethereum. The XRPL will have a have a tough time competing.

Made an account just to ask this question: XRPL doesn't support smart contracts at the moment, so what exactly can the XRPL do? I know you can send and receive transactions but what is the full list of current things that it is used for?

The XRPL is a multicurrency ledger with an order book DEX built in at the protocol level. It had a lot of potential in 2013 which has been squandered in the search for institutional liquidity instead of building a functional crypto ecosystem. As more and more smart chains develop multi-chain solutions, the XRPL's use case becomes less and less unique.
