Seoulite
My answer is no, it is too late now, and they have done a lot of work in building their brand and community. Also I don’t like this question from Hugo, considering how much FF have done to drum up excitement in the Flare community while there was complete radio silence from the Flare team itself. The way he asked the question is wrong. Flare Finance can ask if they should change their own name. But I, or Hugo, can't ask if Flare Finance should change their name. It's not my choice. Hugo can ask if Flare should enforce how the names Flare and Songbird are used. But they're gonna have a tough time with that. It's not just Flare Finance, most data providers have F(lare)TSO in their name. Ripple had this same problem but was able to rollover the weak gateways. I suspect Flare will have a harder time with it. They should have enforced their trademark from the start instead of letting everyone use it. I'm a little shocked that they didn't learn from Ripple's experience. ftso_au and Seoulite

Frankly, I would have liked to see Flare Finance be proactive in renaming themselves when we had this confusion all that time ago. But I can see how they wanted the name association to generate hype. I don't blame them. I personally think it is okay to change the name, given that they are introducing ExFi as a new brand on Songbird anyway and the Flare MainNet hasn't launched yet. They could call their team/company Flare Finance, and call the products themselves something else. There's already enough confusion about dFLR, yFLR, ExFi, yFin, sFin, CAND, xUSD, yUSD, etc. anyway. That said, I agree that this should not have come from Hugo. I would have liked to see this question 1 year ago when Flare Finance announced several public engagements including alpha, beta, etc.

RambeauTeasebox
They should - and companies/projects rebrand all the time. I hope they do voluntarily. But I'll echo the others here: it's too late for Flare Networks/Foundation to be pushing it now. They should have when Flare Finance launched. The association, when all is going well, is certainly favourable for Flare Finance ... I can certainly see why they named themselves like they did. Not unlike our own decision to use the name FTSO AU and by default be seen as THE signal provider in Australia ... and it may even give us some default legitimacy globally.
