Seoulite
Interesting interview actually. Some notes: - "a large number" of the exchanges that are supporting FLR have been in contact about Songbird too - proposal to improve FTSO coming in the next few days - digibyte are interested in putting in a proposal to become an F-asset - Hugo talks about use cases that come from state connector, FTSO, and f-assets - earning value from collateralising F-assets is the way to bring in new capital to the system, like the way a national economy moves money around inside it but also earns foreign currency from trade, etc (around 38 mins) - he stressed that earning by collateralising F-assets and delegating to the FTSO can be done simultaneously. (I thought we had figured out that that couldn't happen, but he really stressed it twice, around 37 minutes in) "it's not either/or, it's and" - being a data provider is being very profitable at the moment - he is interested to see how the tokenomics are working because at the moment its basically 15% of the songbird supply in the FTSO, which will be a similar economic setup to flare itself - he is also interested to see how the exchange distributions will change things - around 40 mins he describes another potential use case for the state connector but I don't fully understand it, will revisit this Edited October 28, 2021 by Seoulite JoeBishop, henne111, StellaBlueZerps and 1 other 1
Seoulite
So he gives an example: you could stake against the FTSO in a smart contract, and say 'I am going to provide the price of DOGE/USD onto the ethereum network' and people could pay you a fraction of a penny for every 500 correct signals you give. And if you gave a wrong signal people could take 50% of your stake (punishment). And the state connector would be able to monitor whether you were delivering/lying or not. He says this is another way to earn the 'foreign' assets on flare. So would this be like a cross-chain FTSO?

I think, if I understand it correctly, the state connector would enable anyone to act as an oracle on any other network, using the consensus protocols of both Flare and the other network as decentralisation. Is the state connector the real story here? NightJanitor

Is the state connector the real story here? Could FTSO signal providers provide price signals for countless other networks’ smart contracts, earning the other assets? Could they advertise services for normal people like “stake with us and earn eth/ada/AVAX’ etc?
