ZerpTidalWave
Thank you all for entertaining this matter. I believe Bitrue has put this to sleep. "Dear user, Thanks for reaching out, Unfortunately, our platform currently does not support WSGB tokens, leading to your coins becoming lost. However, we will consider the coin to be one of our considerations for the following listings. Please have a look at our Twitter account. Our information team will be there with the latest information regarding our new term/update regarding the services of Bitrue. Best Regards, " I have the utmost respect for the coders and devs in this space..pretty complicated stuff.. You would think that Bitrue would want to get in on the action as far as having options for users to delegate votes as I am sure they will be a signal provider. In such case, then wrapping SGB will be a necessity..someday.
NightJanitor
For being the first exchange to list FLR - I believe before it was even "issued" or whatever - that's a little disappointing. On the upside, SBI recently indicated that they're going to support FLR, so...that'll bring some professionalism to table. Might take them a minute to get warmed up... On the other hand, maybe they're ready to go. (We'll see!) ZerpTidalWave
ZerpTidalWave
And to top it off Bitrue is on https://flaremetrics.io/ftso to be a signal provider which means they could easily help. They are familiar with WSGB! BillyOckham
jargoman
On 10/19/2021 at 12:43 AM, BillyOckham said: But it’s an exchange…. they have hot wallets and the capacity to allocate funds/tokens even if they are not the same ‘tokens’ that were sent. They can credit the users exchange account balance and if ever sent off the exchange the tokens would simply come from the hot wallet. So it doesn’t appear technically or organisationally difficult to me, but perhaps I’m missing something. If I sent songbird to your ledger nano ethereum address and you plugged in your ledger nano it would not show a songbird balance. It would be impossible to recover the coins from the ledger nano without a firmware update OR using the word list and a custom tool such as the ian coleman tool. An exchange may not have a word list, the key may be purposefully embedded in the hardware wallet to prevent employees from being able to copy the key. To complicate things even more, many exchanges use bitgo as a custodial service. Bitrue has to contact bitgo and ask them to support wrapped songbird. Convincing bitgo to upgrade their firmware would be challenging. I do believe they can recover the coins. I suspect that bitfinex purposefully obfuscates their UI to encourage users to deposit to the wrong network. This allows them to steal users coins while shielding themselves from legal action. An exchange could deny that it's possible to recover while stating that their technology is secret for security reasons. I went full defi because I'm sick of exchanges and their BS. I only use a centralised exchange to cash out. BillyOckham, ZerpTidalWave and JASCoder

I'm honored that there is so much experience (old like me😁) discussing this subject. Maybe they can name the ui after me since I'm the first dumbest to do this...but definitely not the last. Out of curiosity, where did you send it from? Did you send it from Bifrost or using metamask with your ledger? ZerpTidalWave

We need some more details. Where are you sending tokens from? And are you sending them to your Metamask wallet connected to the nano? Yes, the Songbird address is the same but you need to make sure you have connected to the Songbird network on Metamask. It is a different network to Flare. Don't get me wrong, Bifrost have done a great job, but that is something that I think would be really easy to implement and would save people from these kinds of things.
