NAIL216
Noob here seeking help. Using LOBSTR wallet to aquire XRP with the domain = stellarport.io How can I confirm whether or not this is really XRP or a fake?
brianwalden
That's going to be an IOU issued on Stellar. I don't know who the issuer is, so I can't tell you how to port it over to the XRPL. I know Ripple Fox is a gateway on both Stellar and the XRPL. If they issue the token, there's probably a way to move it through them. NAIL216
Thanks Brian - I appreciate your response. What has me concerned is the Ripple XRP price in my LOBSTR wallet is currently $1.001059713 USDC but anywhere else it's $.72 USDC. That's what had me thinking I may not really have XRP but maybe something else.
brianwalden
So it looks like the XRP is an IOU issued by Stellarport itself. I'm guessing it's not very liquid and that's why the price is way off. You'd have to check with Stellarport to see how you can convert it to actual XRP. NAIL216

zek0597
Hi Brian, thanks for sharing your knowledge. It's very helpful. I'd like to dig a little deeper if you don't mind. Let's assume stellarport is the dex/issuer for xrp, like nail216 explained above. How do you trace the transaction through the gateway and unto the xrp ledger? It looks like there's visibility into the transaction initially using stellar expert. Is there a transaction id or similar (in stellar expert) that can be used to track the transaction through the gateway and on to the xrpl?

I'm sorry but I'm not at all familiar with Stellarport or Stellar Expert. I can't help there. Can you reach out to Stellarport's customer service? zek0597
I've tried their customer service a couple of times and they haven't replied, unfortunately. I'll keep after it and let you know what I find out. Do you know if the ripple gateway function is automated or is it a manual process? I read that there's a market maker (think that's what was described) that secures the xrp on behalf of stellar dex. This is done at the gateway. If it's a manual process, then I doubt the tracking information is readily available. Otherwise, it probably can be had programmatically. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks for getting back so fast. I appreciate it.

Thanks for getting back so fast. I appreciate it. There is no gateway function. A gateway is an entity who lets you deposit one currency in exchange for an issued currency (IOU) on the XRPL. They can perform that task any way they want.
