citislicker
May God strike me dead, if any of this I am saying is not true! I do not recall the time period, but back when ripple was actually ripple and not XRP, I purchased $100.00 worth of the coin, as a joke. I do not recall how many zero's was in front of the DOT, if it was 3 or 4, but I do call purchasing only $100 worth, and righting down my secrete code in back of an envelope. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I actually said to myself, I waste more than that on drinks at any given bar. - my actual thought. Anyway, back then ( I do not recall the year ), you only had cold storage, wallets that you had to right down, there wasn't any online Trezor or Ledger etc. I thought BTC was expensive at $300.00 I wasn't going to spend that amount of money to buy no damn Bitcoin. So I opted to buy some RIPPLE at $.0002 xxx . I do not recall the other amounts but I do recall some zeros in front of the dot. Anyway. I wrote down this long ass alpha numeric # in back of an envelope - Now I can't find the envelope or any way to access my ripple. I read it transitioned into XRP, I never took part of any of that. My $100.00 ripple is still sitting out there on some damn block chain waiting for me. what do I do? What I do have, are old hard drives I have saved, to i am going to find a way to access them to see if maybe i can find my secrete code somehow. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you in advance. mrhat75
JASCoder
You must find the secret key (begins with an "s"). Without it, it's lost to you. GL m8.

Simply a name change. Currency formats differ around the world. I think you are saying that you bought at one fifth of a cent. .2 of a cent. If you paid $100 at that price you had fifty thousand of them. They are currently worth a dollar. So that is fifty thousand dollars on the back of that envelope. The current price could easily increase to double or triple or even more. I would systematically pull my whole house to bits piece by piece to find that envelope. Without that secret key you have nothing. Good luck to you on the search.
JeffYang
If I lose my private key, will I never get it back, even if I remember the previous account password and email address?

The password is just a local security measure so if someone gets ahold of your phone or laptop they can't use the wallet app without the password. The private key lets you authorize transactions from your address. Without it you can't move any coins out of that address. You can take your private key and import it into any wallet app that connects to the XRPL, and have access to the funds at your address that way. But if only have the password, once you lose that app on your phone (like if you get a new phone and re-download the app), the password is useless. I used to operate on the website. Later, the site was relocated and it has ceased operations, and I can't retrieve my private key anymore.
