BIGAMB
I bought some xrp in 2017 and stored them on a rippex desktop wallet on my P.C. I've gone to log in and and says the password is not recognised. I do not remember my secret key and only used to log in with a password. Can anyone advise on how I can get access? I still have the exe. file from the original installation if that helps I've attached image of the screen.
Hero_Member
Well... for a start the account file is not the selected .exe file. But I guess you knew that already? RobertHarpool
BIGAMB
Hi Hero_Member, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I am not sure what the selected file should be. I used to search for the ripple desktop wallet via the windows search on the windows menu and it would bring up the wallet for which I used a password to log in with. I then created a shortcut to the wallet on my desktop and I think I was able to log in that way. As I have not logged in to the wallet for a few years now I cannot remember what the file should be. Can you advise any further on what the file account file should be? Or if there is anything I need to do to try and regain access to the wallet? I have attached screenshot of the files showing under the folder on my computer.
PunishmentOfLuxury
The wallet file is usually a .txt file.
BIGAMB
Thanks. I can't seem to find that file anywhere!!! I read somewhere that it might be worth trying to uninstall and reinstall the desktop wallet. Do you think this would help or possible re-instate the files? Triceratops
Is it possible that you saved the .txt file somewhere else on your computer, maybe somewhere in AppData, another local folder etc.? I am no expert but normally these files don't get saved to the program folder. (correct me if I am wrong)
BIGAMB
I am looking through folders now to see if I can locate it - I have no idea where it could be. Does anyone know if re-installing the wallet may help? Thanks again for your help!
