retep
I did read that Dogecoin is not a serious coin and never intended to be one, and it's not being updated, but now Elon Musk does talk Dogecoin into the heavens and it seems to work because in januari you could buy them for 0,7ct and now they are 9ct, so that's almost 13x up, and it's still going hard upwards atm, so is it worth a try? B088IN
Had some, made a bit, put it into XRP. I guess like any coin, it gets caught up in the hype when alts are rising, but when it falls, it falls hard

Barefooter
I've never seriously researched it because I've always heard it was started as a joke and that it has no "actual use". Also there is no limit to how many coins can be mined. I certainly don't like that! I was surprised to see that Flare is getting involved with Doge coin though so you never know. Personally I won't be purchasing any since there are so many great coins/projects out there.

RobertHarpool
I'm kinda with Hall1000 on this. Question is: What do you intend to 'try' to do with it? ... if 'try' refers to baseless, wild speculation, then sure. Knock yourself out. Buy a scratch off lotto ticket too. But ... Why are you posting that question anywhere on this forum? ... I feel It is as if you are implying that folks here are petty opportunists just 'giving XRP a try' If so, nothing could be further from the truth. I've been here and only here (XRP) for nearly a decade. And for a lot of very valid reasons. I mean ... what does Dogecoin do? What is it for? What problem does it solve? THIS thread is exactly why we should all expect the SEC/CFTC/FINCEN/etc. to come down hard on the broader crypto community in the not-so-distant future, regardless of how Ripple fares in its case. Much of the crypto sphere is not much more than shameless, unadulterated casino gambling on an increasing number of ponzi coins. NightJanitor
Don't know anything about it other than it has no ascertainable (to me) capability, capacity, or character which I wound find useful or for which there isn't a better alternative already extant... Think it was conceived/marketed as "it's totally useless and defiitely not money and you shouldn't buy it!" - which would perhaps explain its whimsical appeal to a certain rich guy who wrote "it's not a flamethrower (tm)" on the packages of the (short-range) flamethrowers which he then sold to fanboys for like a grand... so... I wish you much luck (you'll need). (See also: "negative example") Edited April 14, 2021 by NightJanitor RobertHarpool

I'm not implying anything, i just wanted to know if there are other forum members that have a few dogecoin on the side, as in a few dollars for the slotmachine or that lottery ticket whatever, and sure not as a long term investment but a little gamble on a short term, that's all. RobertHarpool
@retep I owe you an apology. The tone of my post was harsher than you deserve. I stand by my points, but that wasn't the best way for me to communicate them. I'm sorry.

If the title of the thread were "what are the ******* idiots buying that one might make a buck on before they wise up?" no hurt feels. I thought that was what @retepwas asking, but was too polite to say, anyway. Lots of traders / swing / trend folks who take offense to that sort of bluntness - but value guys and fundamental analysis types dgaf for that stuff and consider it noise... "The bad thing about playing musical chairs with idiots is that even if you get a seat when the music stops, you're surrounded by idiots." (I can rag on trend followers / memesters / groupthinkers all day, no sweat... just ask! ) (When more of these useless / do-nothing / coin qua coin thingies, whatever they are, melt down or get regulated, XRP -> "safe haven".)
