CryptoFun
Hello, I had an old desktop wallet which I did not access for last three years. Now that laptop got corrupted. I checked my diary and found one long key was written starting with 'r'. Can I recover my XRP using that information only ? If yes, please tell how ? Thanks in advance. No. You need the secret key, a long string of characters beginning with 's'. If you have a file named something like wallet.txt and the associated password, I might be able to help you. If you are, then your XRP are lost. Otherwise, I recommend taking out the hard drive. Most of the time you can buy a simple adapter and connect it to another computer. Let me know if this is the case. If the hard drive is really not working anymore and depending on your holdings, there might be some data recovery company that might help you out, but this will cost a fair bit of money. If you saved your passwords or some other data related of your wallet (secret key, recovery phrases etc., backups) I would search for them otherwise you could also try to search for a wallet.txt file or something in this direction. I am asking you again, is your computer not working or is your hard drive not working? Because as already said, if your hard drive is working you can buy an adapter and connect it by yourself like in this video: @CryptoFun Edited April 13, 2021 by Triceratops

If not then your XRP are lost, your string starting with 'r' is just your classic address. I am sorry.

I think I remember the password but wasn't able to import this into any meaningful wallet to test it out. What do you suggest to do?

Thank you. I'm trying out edward852/xrp-wallet-recovery for now. Need to compile a better password condition and see if that works. Based on what I've read in this forum you have the compiled nodes for Linux and Windows right? or Is there any other solution that will be revealed in the PM? I have the last official Ripple desktop clients for Windows and Linux released by Ripple in 2015. Once installed, you should simply be able to open your wallet.txt file using the password. You can then reveal the secret key beginning with 's' and import that to another wallet; I recommend Xumm.

But meanwhile, if any other has the installer, I would appreciate private message with the link to download. I'm sure more people have some xrp stored since 2015 and will have problems recovering.
