Daniel8
Hi all! I'm new here and new to cryptos in general. I'm not generally that tech inclined so hence I have not paid much attention to cryptos in the past. I wish now that I would have as Bitcoin may have been the best investment ever in the last 10 year! But now my eyes are heavily on XRP for many many reasons. Could anyone tell me why the exchanges are so deathly slow about verification? It is taking several days and I can't start to even fund my account. Right now I am on Coinbase and Binance.us for 6 or so days waiting for them to approve my account so that I can fund it. Yesterday I started up a Kraken account to see if they would be faster. Any recommendations for USD - XRP exchanges that are smooth and fast? Also a dumb question--- I am waiting on my Ledger nano wallet from France. Can I use a digital wallet for XRP and then transfer to the ledger after I get it?
FOOD
maybe a dumb answer, but are you in France? If you are you might get it sooner.
at3n
Can't give a definitive answer to your first question, but I'd guess that the recent bull run has resulted in a lot of new sign-ups which is clogging up the exchanges' verification procedures. Same happened end of 2017. I would have hoped they were better prepared for this one but maybe not. To your second question, yes you can use a software/paper/whatever wallet until your Nano arrives. However, be aware that you won't be able to import that account into the Nano; you'll need to create a new account using the Nano and send the XRP to it from the first wallet, meaning you'll either need to leave 20XRP behind in the first account, or else pay a 5 XRP fee to delete the account and send the rest to the Nano. Or you can just leave it on the exchange until the Nano arrives.
Jack21
They are slow because million people join the exchanges and it takes time to process the application. I had the same issue in 2017 as well. jetbrzzz
paym8
Be aware that when you do get your account, you may not be able to trade/buy the XRP that you want; due to the US & other exchanges halting/delisting XRP or restricting trading/buying to NON US customers until there is regulatory clarity. I do know this. That is why I am trying to rush to get into it. I have been watching "Digital Perspectives" and think he may be right that XRP is quite possibly the next upcoming world reserve currency and could go extremely high. Even if he is wrong it is a good investment. I just hope I can funnel funds to it in time.
Daniel8
I was reading somewhere else on here that only Uphold and Kraken are selling XRP to US customers right now. I started a Kraken account but they haven't verified yet. Tomorrow I will to the Uphold.
at3n
Have you considered using the built in XRPL DEX? Liquidity is not great but better than nothing. Pretty sure Gatehub still allows US citizens to use their gateway to deposit USD or BTC, then you can trade on the DEX for XRP. You need an activated XRP account first.
