Keep It Simple Stupid explanation of a Smart contract.

I have been in the crypto space for 3 years now. I have Read lots of stuff and gained knowledge about various projects, but have to humbly admit that Smart contracts are still a vague concept in my ageing grey matter.

can some one explain (or point me to an explanation) that shows a very simple use case for a smart contract.

if anyone knows of a very simple diagram that is like a light bulb for Smart Contracts for me, please post?

I have read this one and I think it’s an excellent introduction and has a few examples.  I disagree with the voting one but that is another matter.
