Sequence number confusion

Hello,

I generated a brand new XRP address and activated it by depositing 20 XRP via BTC Markets.

However, when I check the wallet information using bithomp, it states that the next sequence number for the address is #57633358:

https://bithomp.com/explorer/rKxppk74EgdjW48gYgUmavPukNjfuqQxkx

I expected next sequence number to be #1, since it's a new address.  The currently displayed sequence number indicates to me that the address has transacted over 57 million transactions, but it hasn't because it's brand new and just activated.  I believe that sequence numbers should also have no gap in order to be valid.

How did the next sequence number get set to such a high number?  Perhaps I don't understand XRP sequence numbering properly...

Many thanks for your help.
