DigiXPayID
Hi, XRP community we are currently looking for beta testers for our new iOS app powered by the new PayID protocol for sending XRP payments. The app allows you to create a PayID and receive XRP payments with your PayID instead of using your XRP address. If anyone is interested check out our video of our app in action here https://youtu.be/t1_H6Z5h86g You can request beta access by emailing us at beta@digixpayid.money. Video is best viewed on a computer monitor since we recorded it live on an iPhone and the screen may be a little small. Panzer_Kitteh
Do you plan on developing an Android app? Does your platform allow for sending ACH?
DigiXPayID
Yes, in the future we plan on building an Android version. As of right now we are running pretty lean and are focusing on iOS. PayID protocol does not actually send payments the underlying payment protocol sends the payment. It is a protocol that allows you to link certain payment types to a PayID address. Example: My PayID address could be john$digixpayid.money. A PayID can receive ACH, XRP, BTC or ETH as payment types. If someone wants to send you an XRP payment to john$digixpayid.money, as long as there is an XRP wallet link to the PayID they can send the payment to you. So, PayID is not a protocol to send payments but a protocol to receive payments without having to remember wallet addresses. I put together a rough diagram for how PayID works since there might be some confusion on what it actually does.

It's borrowing on the simplicity that Venmo and Cashapp created, which isn't a bad thing. What I want to know is if you are only focusing on cryptocurrencies or will or have integrated ACH into your platform like Unisend has done? DigiXPayID
Gotcha. No we don't plan on focusing on ACH with PayID and only focusing on digital assets. We don't like the fact that you can easily make a call to the public endpoint (https://api.payid.org/?version=latest#bf7137bc-d082-4d46-81b4-e76e4e0b8ddf) and retrieve someones ACH info from their PayID. To us that is a security concern. Digital assets are not much of an issue since you can only send payments to those wallet addresses and you aren't exposing keys. With ACH a little social engineering and I could automate ACH payments being sent to me from someone else's bank details. We may add some ACH functionality later but it will use an API provided by either Uphold or Coinbase, we will not store the ACH info on our end. I must have missed that from a month ago or it has recently been updated or added. I'll take a look at it. However, the problem is you and so many other developers are working on this project (except the two I can find) only focusing on digital assets. Too many on this forum or in the cryptosphere will be excited about this. But I deal with a lot of people doing custom WP themes. I deal with people from boomers, gen-xers, millennials and zoomers, all seem to be pretty tech savy (that's because many are gamers). I've tried over the last few years to get people to pay in digital assets but most of these groups can't be bothered to watch your 19-minute video, learn how to create a wallet and all they want is to get cash sent to their Venmo, PayPal, Cashapp or Zelle. I'm afraid you're spending all this time developing something for a niche market to use. Before anyone thinks I'm negative to your project or any other similar project, I'm not. I'm really excited about PayID and for you and others taking a crack at developing upon their infrastructure. But I can't stop thinking that maybe you don't know what most of the market wants: cash deposited without having to invest hours watching a Youtube videos or creating a wallet address at an exchange, which many have draconian KYC processes (i.e. take a selfie or take a picture of your passport and/or driver's license) to jump through before getting to the wallet generating stage. DigiXPayID
We definitely understand where you are coming from and understand we are not just early adopters, but early, early adopters building out this technology. I guess you can compare it to when PayPal first came no one used it and it wasn't easy. We are in that stage now and know our target market is not the generation that is currently retiring but the generation my kids age. It will be a while before this market matures but most of us building this out are doing it because we love the technology and can't wait to see what the future holds. I'm just glad we can be part of this and get to see it grow. It's kinda like when the internet was new. Definitely exciting times and can't wait to see what comes of protocols like PayID. For all I know we could be building on the next Nortel Discovery Protocol. For those that aren't familiar that protocol is dead. Panzer_Kitteh
Having said that, people should reach out to you and beta test the hell out of this app you created. It would also be nice if you selected people outside of the cryptosphere as well so you can reduce confirmation bias.
DigiXPayID
Agreed, like you stated most people outside of the cryptosphere would be lost on how to do this. Even after they watch the video. So, starting with the path of least resistance. Once we are able to abstract away the creation of wallets I think adoption will pick up. Panzer_Kitteh
@DigiXPayID Will beta testers be required to sign an NDA? If not, can their opinions be posted within this thread or a separate thread on this forum?
DigiXPayID
No NDA required. We want honest feedback good or bad. We want the market to speak and determine if we are going down the right path or need to pivot and make changes. Also, we are looking for feedback on features people would like to see in upcoming versions. We will be starting development on the Android version in the next couple of months. Feel free to spread the word we are looking for beta testers. Feel free to create new threads. Panzer_Kitteh
@MoonLambo I know you are all about utility and not speculation driving the value of XRP. It would be awesome if you could do a podcast with @DigiXPayID so the rest of the community can learn about DigiXPayID and the problem its trying to solve.
