excessive fees

Hi there XRP fans

I am new to all this and need help. Sent XRP from an exchange to a soft wallet and got charged 1% fees e.g. sent 3000 XRP got charged 30 XRP

Thought this was eccesive and when enquired was told that it was not a cheap wallet (Really - you thin)

Was waiting for my Ledger nano X to arrive and when it did a week later, I wanted to take them out of the soft wallet and transfer to the NanoX.

Now they charged me 5% and when enquired was told was cheaper than traditional banks!!

But thats not the worst - XRP never arrived and my account at the soft wallet showed.. 0.. balance!

When checked the Transaction history said transaction failed. Should the XRP have automatically been returned to my soft wallet?

The people at support have suddenly stopped talking to me  -  What do I do??

Which exchange and which soft wallet? A true software wallet should not cause 5% fees to be applied, but if it's a actually a hosted wallet service being provided to you by a company, then of course they can charge whatever their terms of service allow.

Yes, if the transaction failed then it would be expected that the XRP would never leave the wallet, and if it did it should be returned, but as this seems to be an off-ledger wallet, you're at the mercy of their software (and any bugs in it).

Either way, your only recourse is probably with the provider of the software wallet. Keep contacting them and then do your best to get the XRP off there onto your own wallet asap. It doesn't sound like they're a good company to continue dealing with.

Does the transaction history give a hash or transaction ID that can be looked up on the XRP Ledger, in case that gives a clue as to what actually happened?

The company was XRP.io  - Seemed legit enuf at first glance.  Having moved XRP around a few times I was expecting the cost to be the same. Didnt know they can charge what they want. A lesson learnt  -  although a costly one  - but all XRP now residing on my Ledger Nano X. Tried to negotiate with Stefan who seemed to be in charge but to no avail. I realize not must I can do but needed to get my anger off my heart.
