The withdrawal process will take two years. SEPA is cheap, but the FX spread is what costs the most - something like 4% for HSBC and 2% for Co-Op. I don't know about the others. There was a Ripple trial Santander ran with its employees in Europe last year that allowed them to do cross-border payments. Not available to the general public yet.
