Francis
Sweet. Ripple is my favorite but I don't mind other cryptos; right now there are less than 400,000 ripple accounts, which means we're not even on the edge of main stream yet. (YET.) The way I see it, any attention or growth to the crypto-verse (any coins) is only going to benefit Ripple in the long run - because in 10 or 20 years the crypto-verse is going to become the Ripple-verse. Per their example, Rachael has 10 btc which entitles her to approx 10k lumens. At today's market value that's approx $20 usd. The time it will take to claim this offer (probably cumbersome) is likely more valuable to most than the payout. No thanks!! Published Example: At time of snapshot 16,215,950 bitcoins in existence Rachel owns 10 bitcoins Rachel can claim 16,000,000,000 * (10/16,215,950) = 9,866.83 lumens Calculation Rachel owns .00006167% of the bitcoins in existence at the time of the snapshot. Her 9,866.83 lumens therefore equals .00006167% of lumens given away. How does the calculation go for xrp holders? In this case he's giving 1-billion to xrp holders. So a person who owns 10,000 xrp would be as follows: 1,000,000,000 lumens x 10,000 xrp/6,762,000 (blockchain may 2014 snapshot)?

posetranos
Wow, after reviewing this thread I see many advanced members (assuming most if not all ripple employees are somehow very correlated in some way to Jed Mccaleb), that express a lot more around their knowledge of what's happened with past history. There is an awful lot us "investment bystanders" like me who really don't know about the nature of relationships between Jed and (or vs.???) the ripple company, or the "goings on". Well if you can find it in your hearts to claim your lumens and hand over to me (I mean if u really don't want them) so that I might have the chance to sell all my lumen for ripple. Of course it's just a thought as I'm merely speaking out loud.
akaasa
If any one need to know how many XRP had in his account on ledger 6762000, can validate it accessing to https://ripple.com/build/websocket-tool/ Quote { "id": 1, "command": "ledger_entry", "type": "account_root", "account_root": "r******(ripple adress to vaildate)****", "ledger_index": 6762000 } Then click in send request, and in the Respone, in the Balance Line, it will appear a number like: Quote "Balance": "62721739216", This would mean that on that account on ledger "6762000" there were 62,721.739216 XRP I wish it help anyone. Don't know if anything like this mini-tutorial has already been posted. Edited June 26, 2017 by akaasa inative, Qatrikias and Malloy
