Do you think this will have any influence on US regulators the way Brad seems to think it will?

Yes and no. The US is certainly not going to look across the pond thinking “we’ll just do whatever the Brits do”... but equally it would seem unlikely one of the worlds most important financial centres is going to be significantly out of step with the others.

xrp could replace the U.S. dollar as a source for international liquidity that was established at the end of world war II. It could be more difficult for the U.S. to freeze international transfers. I don't think XRP is a threat to the U.S. dollar I think XRP could be a threat to the U.S. utilizing the dollar to apply international pressure to get what is wants. Currently the U.S. is suppressing economies, such as Iran and Russia, by weaponizing the dollar. XRP or any other digital asset would allow some of the pressure to be circumvented.
