ZzZerper 89 Posted July 24 https://www.ripple.com/insights/q2-2019-xrp-markets-report/ XRP has underperformed the last 6 months compared to other crypto. A period when Ripple has sold record amounts of XRP, not to mention seeing even David S sell a substantial amount. How do you feel? Makes me feel uneasy TBH. 1 XRPage reacted to this

This has been heavily discussed all over this forum. Also the report addressed the amount they have been selling in Q2 and how it will be reduced going forward. 3 2ndtimearound, Finesse and VanHasen reacted to this
Zedy44 2,761 Posted July 24 Yes they are selling record amounts of XRP, but also simultaneously agreeing that going forward OTC sales will be handled differently. One big item mentioned was the elimination of OTC sales for institutions where liquidity within those institutions markets are sufficient to meet their needs via direct exchange purchases on the open market. They did not break down how much of the existing institutional sales come from those kinds of markets, but I'd guess at least 50% or more with Ripple now focusing on the under-serviced markets to drive XRP OTC sales. This is a good thing in major markets like US and SE Asia where liquidity is strong...new institutional entrants will likely have a higher chance of sourcing their XRP purchases through exchanges going forward. Quote Institutional (OTC) Sales Ripple’s long-term view is that efficient, liquid XRP markets should resemble the traditional FX markets, given XRP’s use case of global value transfer. As a large portion of FX trading occurs on the OTC markets, in 2017, Ripple began providing, through XRP II, a licensed subsidiary, OTC purchases of XRP to meet institutional demand, at a time when XRP/USD liquidity was limited. Since then, XRP listings increased as Ripple has partnered with the top digital asset brokers and used inventory to serve as a backstop for XRP liquidity. This allowed these OTC liquidity providers the ability to source XRP, even when institutional quantities of XRP were difficult to access across exchanges. Ripple decided to pull back from providing XRP over-the-counter at scale toward the end of Q2, in light of the OTC desks’ ability to source institutional demand for XRP in the open markets. Going forward, Ripple plans to focus institutional sales on markets where the on-exchange liquidity for XRP is insufficient to meet institutional demand. 13 VanHasen, DreXRP, bones and 10 others reacted to this

If I remember good we're talking about 2.3-2.6 mio xrp.... F... nothing in comparison to daily volume. 1 WrathofKahneman reacted to this
ZzZerper 89 Posted July 24 Fact is they could see XRP holders falling behind every crypto and they chose to sell more than ever.
ZzZerper 89 Posted July 24 I struggle a bit with referencing daily volumes. If 10s -100s millions of new tethers can have such dramatic upward effect on BTC, surely sucking hundreds of millions of real $$$ out of XRP market can have a big impact. Please tell me if my logic is wrong. I really want to stop worrying so much about this.

Trying to FUD up a positive report, eh? Maybe read what @Zedy44 said again. If you still feel uneasy afterwards then maybe xrp is not for you. Sell into something else and sleep well at night. 8 2 2ndtimearound, invest2lose, Zedy44 and 7 others reacted to this

XRP-JAG 1,981 Posted July 24 As @Zedy44 says, the big take away is the redirection of institutional buyers to market to buy XRP. VERY IMPORTANT. Firstly (and obviously) this means more buy pressure on the price. Secondly (and maybe over looked) is that Ripple believe now that the market is in a position to support them orders. This now is the part where the organic growth in the XRP market comes in. Your 'Marker Makers' etc step in to meet the demand rather than Ripple. Fantastic news! 24 Mpolnet, Julian_Williams, stef-k and 21 others reacted to this
