cono16
Hi all, i fell for it. A ripple give away retweeted by Brad Garlinghouse. Of course a fake account i found out too late. I sent ripple and hoped to get something in return. Never ever did i fall for such a thing. I hate myself. Is there a way to get it back? You can check the transacounts on https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/graph The destination address is rpSK8GQEiKN4wdvnBxddSE3GAh54S7fitN and my address is rJ5Z23aPLi4FefBH3d8inPkxD6vaMQFEjL As you can see i sent 500 and later 5000 ripple. Is there a way to figure out who is behind this? I really want my ripple back. Hope you can help me. xrp_sea
Sorry to hear about that. I hope you learned a lesson and you're more careful next time. If you've already reported it, there's not much else you can do. You can continue to track the destination address and see where it goes, but I doubt that's going to lead to getting your XRP back. xrphilosophy and Sharkey

Well, we've all had our incidents of bad judgment, but it's not productive to beat yourself up. Many of us want to kick ourselves for various decisions we've made (like trading at the wrong time, selling at the wrong time, or not selling at the ATH...But it doesn't help to sink into self-loathing. Learn from your mistake, move on, and don't trust random internet trolls, links, etc. I get that losing 5,500 XRP is painful, but it could have been even more painful. At least you didn't lose 50,000 XRP. The good news is that you can save some money and buy more XRP while the price is rock-bottom, if you want to do that. It looks like you will have some time as this price has been low for awhile, and doesn't seem to be moving all that fast, if at all. Good luck, man! xrphilosophy and 7strings

Why did you send 5000 10 min after, you didn't receive anything for the 500? Anyway, unless he send's the funds from the wallet it's hard to know. It could be activated by the first person to fall for the scam. Just got to wait and see where he (yes, i just assumed gender) sends it, if you get lucky he's dumb enough to send it to an exchange with KYC, and you can contact them. I wouldn't get my hopes up tho. 7strings and xrphilosophy
GoldenGoose
I get no joy from someone else's misfortune, unless they are criminals or something. That being said, if losing 5,500 XRP helps to immunize you from the something-for-nothing virus for the rest of your life, it will be money well-spent. It may be a painful lesson, but it has the potential to be a very valuable one. Mycoteric and cono16
cono16
At this point i dont feel so bad anymore. I am a small invoster and early buyer. I did not lose a paycheck worth of XRP. So no big damage. The feeling of people doing this is worse than the money. Ripple is willing to help and i also searched the destination address on bithomp. The wallet seems to be activated by Bitstamp, so hopefully the address is known by them, since they keep KYC information. We ll see what happens. To be honest, i still think i am stupid, but i can smile about it at this moment. Hope the thief gets hit by a bus or 2.
Dbllrebel
I fell for it too like a dumbo! I sent 1000 XRP and kept checking my coinbase acct for 10,000 xrp, then the feeling came.....oh crap, I've been had! I hate this world sometimes. The reason I fell for it is that I'm always reading articles about how xrp is given to companies, so I thought it made sense. 😱

Ripple don’t give XRP away. But a lot of FUD is pushed to that effect. Oh well, lesson learned and maybe you will have some balancing good luck. Thanks for sharing your experience, hopefully it will help someone else.

Newcryptofan
THIS SCAM ( ACCORDING TO THIS CHAT ROOM ) HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW YEARS, AND FLEECED MANY PEOPLE OF THEIR COINS. Its May 2021 and I just got done by this scam like many others, and the smart ones in this classroom, the ones who never got done for anything are here also to play with this scam and shame the ones who fell for it instead of asking themselves like others that are in the hot seat at Ripple how to deal with this scam and finish it for good, I see that YOUTUBE is quick on shouting down conservatives comments but slow on getting these scams off air, let alone Brad Garllinhouse or anyone at Ripple to tell Youtube to police their website a bit better and have the same gusto in closing them scams down instead of just being the moral keepers of politics. IF RIPPLE WAS CONCERNED AT ALL " as they are " ABOUT CLEANING UP THE BAD NAME OF CRYPTO AND THE CRIMINALS THAT USE IT FOR MONEY LAUNDERING OR WHATEVER, SHOULDN'T THEY ALSO BE CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING A SYSTEM OF ADDRESSES THAT IS FOR THE SAFETY OF CRYPTO OWNERS BEEN USED TO SCAM AND RUBISH THE GOOD NAME AND INTENT OF XRP AND CRYPTO IN GENERAL, WHY IS IT SO HARD IN DEALING WITH THIS SORT OF SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL, IS IT THAT HARD TO USE " BLOCKCHAIN " AND LEDGERS TO KNOW WHERE TOKENS ARE BOUGHT OR STOLLEN TO AND FROM... It's too easy to accept that Gov's or regulators of stock exchanges and exchanges of crypto can just say buyers beware " when it suit them " why don't the crypto exchanges trace the addresses of where this scams start from, why do exchanges have to have your I.D proven down to your last toe nais but can't or won't deal with addresses tracing, if XRP and other crypto can know where, when, by whom, and how much was a transaction, but cannot trace an address where this scams are operating from... If Ripple XRP cannot give a hoot about who is using their names and website programming security , what does it say about the " XRP is the best system since sliced bread " or is that just B.S and all fog. If Ripple was so clever in BLOCKCHAIN programming, why couldn't it pay someone to hack those scammers into oblivion. They can prove to the IMF and world banks on how secure THE XRP SYSTEM is, but cannot secure their website miss-use or how the XRP token is used or abused... IF THE ABOVE SOUND LIKE I AM PISSED OFF. YES I AM... Rippleceo.org ( the screen shots below ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKTFjDHjWng ( is now a private only viewing ) it wasn't yesterday..
