Heeft je een DM gestuurd

Hallo,

Dank

While I am very sorry for people's losses, I adamantly oppose using our validator to censor or alter any transactions, as doing so would surely have substantial negative effects for the overall XRPL. As @alloyxrp already observed, this is a slippery slope indeed! Further, it isn't even possible or practical, as there are so many default UNL validators that would surely disagree with this course of action.

Irreversible theft is a consequence associated with decentralized systems, and I personally avoid keeping any value on exchanges, as I see them as rather large targets for theft.

I agree that it is slippery, and should be treated with care. But this is consensus, we just decide who we trust (most), right? And we decide what is channged on the network. There sure could be a point where the network after a hack has significant less value than the network before. Imagine we have 100 banks on the network, and 50 got hacked. They could stop using the network, leaving it with much less value than before. I am sure there will be a point where it will be tried at least.

Anyway, at this moment it is not helping the victims, so another thread another time.....

This is so strange.

After my account was hacked (-1990XRP) i take screenshots!

In the first screenshot my account was left with 78.32 xrp

Today my account is with 81.68 xrp

WTF Gatehub is this a joke?

It shows the value of all coins, IOU etc in XRP. If you have some dollars there, your XRP value has gone up (the XRP price was down..)

If I'm looking correctly to an account from Silkjaers list that lost 1990 XRP, you've got 48,50XRP left and 95.8k Alvor.

Because the value of Alvor changes over time the 'total worth' in XRP varies from day to day.

Took a while to read through this whole thread, but agree with some older users here this was a ticking time bomb.  I had my concerns here in the past as well, basically that you should never trust having your private keys stored on any service whether encrypted or not:

Personally I would create entirely new wallets to use and store any remaining XRP.  I know the argument that rekeying is just as secure, but IMO it's too easy for less sophisticated users to accidentally mess up the rekeying process and lose your funds again.  I would rather just create a new wallet even if it cost ~$10 to fund.

There are quite a few tools for doing this that don't try to store your keys like Gatehub does - Bithomp, Toast Wallet, my own (https://www.theworldexchange.net/).  It's unfortunately hard to find consolidated information on stuff like this for XRP.  If you just search "XRP Wallet" online, one of the first things listed is Gatehub, which isn't the same thing.  If you search Ethereum Wallet, it rightly points to MEW and other local-only tools.  IMO it really has to come from Ripple to list vetted and recommended wallets.  Not only for trust but Google's SEO probably is affected a lot by what their site links to.
