Question: [Study Group] How do you prefer to participate?

Recommended Posts

I deferred this question deliberately because I wanted everyone to introduce themselves first. Now it looks more than half of the people that emailed me have. I hope you've enjoyed beginning to meet the others.

I deliberately made it non-trivial for all of you to find your way here. That is because I wanted people to "self-select" in order to assure everyone else in the study group that they were here to take it seriously and actively participate. Thank you all for "jumping through a few hoops."

Each of you:

  1. Watched the study group announcement video all the way to the end.
  2. You emailed me personally at the address in that video.
  3. Came here to XRP Chat and introduced yourselves.
  4. Now some of you are helping my organize the study group processes.

That gives me 100% confidence that we will all have a great experience.

Given the above hoops, I'm pretty sure I know most of your answers. But I'll ask the question anyway:

How would you like to participate?

  1. At the table - interactive discussion recorded on video for everyone to see
  2. Live audience - with periodic voice recorded question opportunities
  3. Live Stream - with text based questions relayed through a voice recorded moderator
  4. Recorded session - with questions asked and answered later in the forums

Given the number of people that have introduced themselves, and presuming we have 2 or 3 sessions, it seems plausible for all of us to participate interactively around a virtual big table. Woot!

However, it is perfectly acceptable if you'd prefer to participate in another way. I know some people prefer a little more pseudonymity. (Nobody who introduced themselves is truly "anonymous".)

Hey Bob!

With the video program that you plan on running-  What are the technical requirements for it?  Basic computer laptop / windows etc?

For now I’ll choose option 2 (live audience w/ voice).

But I’m flexible and could be talked into doing Video if you needed more folks for option 1....assuming I have the technical capabilities and knowhow 😂 😆

I look forward to starting and getting to know ALL of you!!

I'm hoping everyone here will sort that out for me in this thread.

But right now, Zoom is looking like a good option. It can run on most laptops and even phones.

You will need an XRP Ledger client as well for hands-on-interaction. I'm still working out which one I want to use for the demonstrations.

Great!  I'm really counting heads so I know how to work out all the technical logistics.

Im down with #2 as well...

Sounds to me like a discord group would work. (where there is a live chat channel and a typing chat channel.)

Thoughts?

I'm not that familiar with discord. But you (or anyone) else is welcome to re-stream the Zoom video session through other systems if you find that useful. Someone would have to moderate and relay any text questions back to the group via Zoom voice or video. I won't be reading text comments live. That would be too distracting for me.

I actually prefer option 4, then option 1 a few days later lol.  But I'm ok with the majority decision.

I've been thinking about that. There is little chance I'll be able to record content, before we gather to discuss the content. I"m just not that prepared or organized.

However, since it is likely we'll need to do two sessions, then people can watch a recorded versions of the first session. Then attend the second session after they feel more prepared. That would work if we did the sessions a couple of days apart.

Does that help or hurt?

Hello,

I hesitate between Option #2 and #3, but I think I’ll opt for #2 and see how it goes 🤗

You’d be great for Option 1 or Option 2 in my opinion.....

all options are fine but it looks like most of us are comfortable to start with option #2 and that was my choice as well

i'd be super happy to hit the round table, but i think theres probably more knowledgeable members out there who would pose better questions than myself. it may be why many opted for number 2, so depending on you... else im up for 2, else im up for 3, else.. (you see where this is going)

I´m good with the majority decision, but due to logistics down here. Really fundamental for me is to be able to watch recorded versions of  previous sessions.
